ABS 2001 Chevy Astro, fathers van

ABS light is now on. His local shop says he can drive with the 'bad' ABS module, which sounds fine, but can not the module fail in many ways, possibly creating high pressure in one wheel yielding potential wheel lock-up?? Thoughts??

Search over on Ebay, gm abs. I had a friend with a 2001 GMC PU that had the some problem, even drove it for a year but was able to take his out and kept driving the truck while it was repaired. Cost about a $100 dollors but its been a couple of years but he just tried of looking at the light.

no. once the abs light is on the abs system completely shuts down and is bypassed. Its fine. Just leave it.

ABS is a supplemental part of the brake system. Now if the HCU went, that would be a different story.
