Thought it would be interesting to see how folks set up their MM for "Winter Duty". Like some, I do the "cop car-look" with a set up from TireRack that this forum suggested. I found the plastic "Crown Vic" look alike hubcaps online as well. Five years of service and still doing ok.
What's your car look like for the Winter?

Not really chromies!!!! I dont run my car in the winter but i dont understand besides mybe the tires why you guys change out wheels. They are clear coat just like whats on the car except in powder so it should be better. If I ran my car in the winter the stocks would stay on.

Before the hood and tint. 235/70-16 (front) 255/70-16 (rear), has a real nice rake to it but not shown in the pic because the back wheels are down the ramp some.

Up here in Winter Land, they use a LOT of salt on the roads to melt snow and ice. If one little nick of scratch in the clear occurs, the salt will get to the aluminum. As we all know, salt and aluminum do not play well together.
In addition, 16" Winter tires are way cheaper and more available than 18" winter tires.
Who the heck knows what you'll slide into or find in a pile of snow around here. I'd rather replace a $50 16" steel wheel, than a $600 Forged aluminum wheel.
This winter has been particularly bad on the car. Poor old Sally she is.

Plus the availability of tire sizes is much better in 16" than 18", never mind the exhorbitant cost of the larger size. The other issue is that you don't have to worry about damaging the tire by constantly removing/installing it on the stock wheels. A dedicated set of winters is the BEST way to go!

I'll have to snap a pic, but I'm running 17" Steelies and hub caps from an 06 P71, like this pic from ebay.

Dirty!
Ok, seriously, I run the 16" P71 wheels (7-spoke) with the chrome centers. I also run appropriate staggered size Winterforce snow tires.

I thought about the cop look but it is too ugly.
I have 16" Alloys with my snow tires.
