My Marauder makes a similar noise. At idle, it sounds like a minor knock. But it doesn't seem to get louder with RPM, as I'd expect an engine that's actually knocking would. If anything, the noise can't be heard at all above about 2000 RPM.
I had a 351W with a knock in it once. I drove it until the knock was so bad, it didn't produce enough compression to run anymore.
So, the sound of my MM engine worries me a bit, but it seems to be normal, and hopefully Ford is saying that it is normal.

Yes I DID!!!
When I bouhgt my MM, clean arfax.
The crank, bearing, and oil pump had been replaced due to "light knocking" when cold the month before. I had the car from April 07-June 08 when the motor blew.
The entire time I owned it, theere was a slight "knocking" noise. I had a Camaro that blew up, I knew it was a knock.... no one believed me. I brought it to the dealer, and they said it was nothing. The next day it blew. Bent 2 rods, spun the bearing, and torqued the block. I had no mods. Said teh crank must have been porely reinstalled.
I had a replacement used motor put in, adn again, it had the same knock. I sold the car before I could find out....
The 04 Mach1, same motor, has a slight knock to it too. This, I was told, was just a noise they all can make. The car has 20k on it now, and no one can hear it enough to think anything of it. Its "too faint" to worry.

Why are you concerned about noises in a car that has been "DEAD" 8 months??
Ya cannot diagnose without hearing them.....anything else is just speculation and useless!!!:shake:

I have seen a couple of these with a knock coming fron one of the camshafts. We retorqued the camshafts and the noise went away on one. The other required replacement of the cylinder head. I posted this about three years ago in a thread but it appears to be gone now.

I just test drove a 2004 and it had loud knocking coming ftom the cam area. Soon as it warmed up and I mean right then it stopped. It has only 77k miles and it ran very strong.

Mary's car has had a soft nuk-nuk-nuk sound off and on since we bought her in 2007. 87,500 then and just under 200,000 now.
