As everyone knows most exhaust shops refuse to cut the cats outa anything without putting another set back in. so my question is this. Does anyone in CAM land know a place that will take them out or have a place or shop to do it in? I really wana do this to maximize the sound through the borlas.
Any advice on the topic?

I go to a man "on the side" to do my exhaust work...
But I think Kelley's will do it thats where MOST CAMers go.

Many shops will work on performance cars like you ask.

Anyway, got a sawzall? Getting them off is pretty easy, even for a ham-fisted monkey like me. It's the re-welding that requires some skill.

Turn off the rear 02 sensors in your tune=no engine light.

Of course, this requires a custom tune.

Most inspections any more don't use a tailpipe sniffer any more. Most plug in to the OBD port and get readings from the long term and short term fuel trims, and readings from the pcm regarding the emissions system.

As for the cats, the 1st cats control the NOx emissions from the engine, and the second cats convert the HC's and CO in the exhaust to CO2 and H2O. Most modern cats really don't restrict your exhaust flow much at all. If you want to remove the cats, I would suggest removing all 4 cats, and installing 2 3-way cats that are high flow.

Just my 2 cents......

+1. My MM is having this done today. More for exhaust tone than anything else - it was the cheapest way to tone down the sound a bit.
