So Mission has it's first Friday Night open drag night on April 10th. I'll be there so long as it's not raining. Anyone else want to join me?

It's $35, gates open at 17:30, and you go through tech. Tim/Derek/Dave, your cars are fine, it's just a formality. Then they run in groups (Bike/Import/Domestic/Unlimited). We'll be in domestic, and you can line up to race whoever you want, or you can just get into line and race random cars.

Your reaction time isn't really a factor, the time you get is the actual elapsed time from crossing the beam at the start, to crossing the beam at the end.

Usually, you get one run per hour since they limit the number of cars to 200. It doesn't sound like much, but there's always lots to see and watch. Derek and I did it twice last year, and had a blast! I think we did 3 runs each time and called it at that.

Any takers? Pencil it in your calendar!

I'll try and make it. I'll likely be spectating since the Marauder may not be in active duty that early. Maybe I should race the MKZ? How does one do burn outs with AWD?

Bring it and race it! Burnouts are totally optional, I never do one, you just drive around the waterbox and stage at the lights. I think the AWD will give a great 60' time, waaay better than our MMs actually. You can get in line to race with one of us, or against whoever you want to within the Domestic group. I think that'd be sweet!

Says here your MKZ does the 1/4 in 15.2

Derek's MM did a 15.0 and two 14.9s in the quarter mile last time at Mission. He's added headers since then, but that would be a cool video...two black beasts running down the track!

How many lengths would he give me? Sorry, I've been watching too many Pinks.
Maybe to make things fair he shoudl throw 2-300 kgs into his trunk.

Well, that won't really work. The timer works differently in this type of beginner's race. It doesn't start when the light goes green, it starts when you break the light beam, and goes off when you cross the 1/4 mark. You could sit there for seconds at the green light, but it only goes off when you start moving.
In PINKS, your reaction time to the green light is measured, and you can red-light as well. (leave too soon and get disqualified) Since our drags are for beginners/testing, they only measure the time the vehicle actually takes to get from A to B once you cross the beam.

Hey Ian, I'll be there for sure. April 10th is my dads b-day, but we'll most likely be seeing them on the Saturday.

Don't worry Tim, I have no idea what I'm doing still. Heres what I know:

-T/C off
-O/D off
-preload to 1500 rpms
-go on last yellow
-mash it to the ground
-hope for the best

I won't be letting air out of my tires and I won't be doing burnouts in the water box.

Dammit! Paving is still not done for the last 3/4 of the track. April 17th "opening day" is officially cancelled.

I'm soooo tired of this.

I'll update here as details are released.

Just got off the phone with Mission Raceway. The track is paved, and Street Legals will be happening this Friday night! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Everybody ready?? The forecast shows nothing but sun until Monday! Come out even if you don't want to race, it's $5 to spectate and you get full entry to everything, you just don't get to actually race. Maybe a bbq on the infield?

Can't make it this Friday. For future reference what are the start and end times?

Tech lanes open at 1630, first race starts at 1730. You can come in at any time after 1630 and go get teched, then go park on the infield and wait to hear the call for your class (Domestics).

I think it's either $30 or $35 entrance fee.

I may or may not be there myself now. I posted at MCM about my trans troubles....We'll see what happens.

Well, Dave ran tonight and I videoed. My trans is still hitting the rev limiter, so I didn't feel safe to race mine.

Dave did: 12.94, then 13.2, then 12.91, then...12.74@109 !!!!!!!

MY HERO!!!!!!!:banana2:
