View Full Version : Collector Car Insurance on my MM, $254/yr.
FYI,
Called my Collector Car Insurance Company that I have my 1970 Riviera & 1970 LTD covered w/.
Since my MM is basically for pleasure use & is not my daily driver I inquired if they would cover it.
They said they do cover newer vehicles, but only if they are limited production or anniversary models used for pleasure use. I explained the limited production on the vehicle, & that the car was a garaged weekender w/ about 9,600 miles on it. They agreed that they would insure the car @ an agreed value of $20K, but I would have to have a $1000 deductible on Comp. & Collision. I agreed, the cost is $254.00 per YEAR !

I don't pay much more than that for full coverage on mine with only a $250 deductible. Shop around, the rates are low if you're not a young'n.
I think I pay $70/month, but that is for 3 vehicles and 2 drivers.

GOOD hunting! I finally just got the "Grundy Agency" to cover my MM for Agreed Value of about 20K+ w/ documented pictures etc. for about that same $260 ANNUAL amount! Shop around as the guys said....keep us posted; GOOD news for all! (as recently as 18 Mos. ago however; this same company that I've been with for over a decade would NOT cover my MM...GOOD things are starting to turn some...)

I've done this on my old 80 Z28 to get around emissions. I was thinking about this with the MM.
Good Info. Thanks!

I'm in New Jersey, car insurance & property taxes are a killer here !
I asked Haggerty, because I have 6 cars on with them now, and they said that they wouldn't cover it.

I've asked Heacock Classic insurance company about my Marauder
They insure my Cobra and I'm about to insure my 84 & 85 Mustang GTs with them.
They have very good coverage and very good rates.
They looked up the Marauder and said that they could not offer insurance on it. "Too new, not rare enough, and not considered a classic."
...yet.
I'm going to try to change their minds.

Old post, I know. However, I just spoke with them and are sending me the application paperwork.
Another local MM.net member has his Marauder and other vehicles covered with Grundy.

Just wanted to let some of you others know who want to ensure your Marauders are covered for what they're actually worth.
Those of you who have your Marauders insured w/ a collector carrier, what was your required deductible?
Again, I had to have a $1000.00 .

I have it set up with a $50,000.00 pay off on a total loss with $100,000.00 and there is no deductable on any and all repairs. Their only real requirment is it must be a garaged automobile and collector's type of car. this value is what I named and they accepted it. and of course not a daily driver must have an alternate vehicle to drive for normal use but you can put on unlimited milage on the covered car.
$730.00 a year for the insurance coverage at that value level.
Here is the info on the policy I have.
Vehicle Information: 2004 Mercury Marauder
VIN = 2MHHM79V64X6xxxxx
Agreed Value - $50000 modified
Liability - $100000
Comp and Collision - Comp and Collision
Deductible - $0
Quote Information
Liability Rate - $30
Comp and Collision Rate - $700
Deductible Rate - $0
Bodily Injury/Property Damage Liability - $100000 with Comp and Collision
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist - Statutory Limit
Med - Payments (State Limit) Included
Tax - $0
Total (this vehicle)- $730.00

The differance is the agreed value...when you total yours they will give you a check for 10k ...maybe...

You're assuming I haven't negotiated the price of the car plus optional equipment.
I have.
Right now I pay $450/6 months for three cars and two drivers with maximum tow coverage AND we swapped out my old crown vic for my wife's 09 Escape.

With all these collector car insurance companies, is it mandatory for all the cars to be garaged to get a decent rate?

Does this mean that MM's can now qualify for "Collector" License Plates?

I haven't seen one yet that didn't require the vehicle be kept in a lockable garage...my buddy actually told his insurance company his car was kept in a 24 foot locked trailer and sent them pics of the trailer and locks and even the hitch lock he had and they accepted it...so I guess its up to interpitation.

I think I'm getting ripped off with State Farm. I pay I think $60 per month!? ($700 ish per year) I think I have a $500 deduct.
I don't have any tickets or accidents in the last 7 years too. I need to go verify. I know State Farm is better than geico or others when it comes to service... I need to verify what I actually pay
For those who have a "regular" policy what are you paying?
