Got my 520w and 400w amps installed today... The 520w is powering the package tray and door speakers (250w Pioneers w/passive crossovers). The 400w is powering the sub and the clarion center channel that I'm waiting on...

Also got started on getting the screens into the headrests... Boy I tell ya, it's a little unnerving slicing into your headreast with a razor blade.... :) But it turned out well... Now I just gotta do it for the other one and hook 'em up to the head unit...

Ever play XBox in a Marauder?

i have :D

are you just going to put the xbox itself in the car somewheres are are you thinking about going ultra pimp? i saw an article where they sliced up a n64 and moved the controller ports to the arm rests and worked the body of the console into the center console. its custom work but man that was sweet looking.

You'd be quite talented to be playing Halo while driving around Texas.

that there are portable versions of these screens out there. You don't HAVE to install them permanently.

Unless of course you're just showing the rest of us up.... then have at it!

Of course I realize that... No where near as bad ass though... :)

logan, appreciate any tips on wire routing and headrest mounting. I plan to do same thing soon.

Does your in dash receiver have a flip out and up screen? I was always thinking I'd have to get a trunck mounted DVD player because the overhang on the dash board looks like it would prevent the DVD screen from reaching the proper viewing angle..unless your sitting with the front seat all the way back and there a girl, and... um..never mind..

anyway, please share a little more on this..

darebren... Wiring is the easy part on the head rest. just pull the wire out from inside the headrest out the same hole as one of the headrest posts, then into the seatback by tucking the wire under the headrest post receiver and into the seatback.

The seat back comes off by undoing two 5.5mm screws on the bottom of the back of the seat. Yes, 5.5mm, no other socket will fit, TRUST ME. :)

Once those are undone, the seat back lift up and off the seat giving you easy access to the seat innards.

My dash receiver IS a flip out and up. The pionner units have just BARELY enough angle adjustment so they will work just fine.

I mounted my DVD/MP3 player in the console totaly concealed and inside roof mounted flipdown screen works great i ride with my seat back PIMPN LEAN! and my son would have had the screen 1 foot in front of his face if would have mounted screens in the head rests. :)

did you go with an infrared device to work with your steering wheel controls?

SILVER, can you post some pics, what equipment you used, how much work it was, etc?

Yes, Crutchfield sells a Infrared control for your steering wheel controls... I've yet to hook it up, but have no doubt it'll work just fine. It's fully programmable. You can program your steering wheel buttons to perform any function.

Got my XM Radio module and antenna installed today... Marauder's rear window gasket is perfect for routing the antenna wire down into the trunk... :)

Logan,

Is the XM antenna itself inside the car or outside the car? If it's outside... is it inductive or did you have to [gulp] drill?

Logan
10-02-2003, 06:47 PM
Drill?! Are you MAD!!!

It's magnetic and holds REALLY tightly. I used a Terk XM3. It's a slimline little square, I'll take a pic tomorrow...

Man, XM is a trip... I spent the entire commute home just flipping channels... Yeesh... Me thinks I need to find a couple favorites...

Logan,

Whew! I was developing a facial tick thinking about the bit popping through the roof.... [shudder]

I am very interested in XM so all pictures you post will be scrutinized pixel by pixel.

...and you pulled the outside window gasket up, got the antenna wire under it and replaced the gasket? Nice work. Can't tell you pulled it up. Is it a difficult process?

Logan, I have Sirius. You will love having Satellite Radio. XM has some commercials, don't they? Sirius doesn't have commercials. Anyway, it is nice to be able to travel from coast to coast and not lose your station.

Logan

Agent... Go look at your rear window gasket. Just lifts up with your finger and there's a lovely channel that runs all the way around the window that perfectly sized to just shove the wires into. I ran the wire around the window and down into the trunk where my XM module is mounted inside one of the quarter panels.

Took maybe 5 minutes to run the wire...

Ok a couple of questions for everyone. First Logan, What model tv monitors did you put into your headrests? I have wanted to do this to my MM but have been unable to come up with something that will work. I think the install looks great. Next question, is there a way to mount that antenna so it is not mounted on the roof or deck lid, or do they make a different style antenna that can be used. I am very interested in getting the sattelite radio, but I don't like those big bulky antennas that have to be mounted. Thanks for your help.

I used Pyle 6.5" TFT Headrest screens from millionbuy.com, they cost about $140 a piece. You can get a 7" or 7.5" screen into the headreat no problem. Just make sure your screens specifically state they're TFT screens.

XM is satellite radio my man, the antenna needs a clear, unobstructed line of sight to the southern sky. If you mount an antenna inside your car or anywhere other than the roof, you'll get crappy reception.
