So Mr. Rienhart is no longer a vendor on MM.net?
I was antisipating him removing his "Ownership" status, but to leave the site entirely, that is a surprise.

Yeah, I'm sorry to see him go. I'm not here to defend him or anything like that, but I can honestly say that he treated me well and I was and continue to be a completely satisfied customer. He went above and beyond for me more than once, as well. Thank you Dennis.

I'm hoping he stays on as a member. Dennis had a lot of great technical posts, and I for one would miss those.

Yep , it is a shame, like Jerry Barnes at Trilogy Motorsports, Marc at Marauder Concepts... and even Todd from Grand Muffler.. just to name a few others.
Hey, even John stopped being a vendor, but then came back.

It's unfortunate that some people seem to spoil things for the overwhelming majority who would just like to 'get along'. The constant ranting, tirades, and other pathetic behavior in some of the threads here recently on the part of some is causing great harm for the many, the few, and the proud MM owners here who have been active on this site from the beginning. I left once before partly due to work circumstances and partly due to bickering, etc. but I returned.
The net of this is it really boils down to how you treat people, incl. vendors, and is quite simple. If you can't say something nice or constructive, don't say it!!!! If you want to be a Flaming A#$H#$%, be my guest and watch the site unravel, members leave, incl. vendors, and then wonder why things are not as they were. Abnoxious attitudes and behavior turn off most people. If I have offended anyone, I am sorry. Sometimes, we, the senior members of MM.net, need to call out our fellow MM members and let them know that their comments and behavior are not in keeping with the purpose and the people of this site.

Okay why does everything have to be nice and constructive in order to say it? If you dealt with someone here or met someone here and they are not worthy of anything good to say, we are not supposed to mention it?

Agreed. Only saying positive things (or keeping quiet) will definitely give readers a false impression in the cases where there are negative things to be said, if they are never voiced.

Yes, Zack speaks his mind and yes, Zack has no class.
Regardless of your experience with Dennis, we wouldn't be where we are today without his R & D, as Ray said. He has contributed thousands of dollars worth of products for our raffles over the last 6 years that many benefited from. He sought out new partnerships with manufacturers, becoming a distrubutor and authorized reseller just for our needs.
Following up on what GordonB said....there's a big difference between constructive criticism and outright hateful bashing.

Actually, what Zack has wished upon Dennis (and Dennis to Hotrauder) is that he be taken up to Heaven.
That's what "celestial" means, at least in the context given. The other meaning of "celestial" (i.e. "visible sky") doesn't make any sense in the context of a "dirt nap."
Zack, choose your words better. :D

Actually, the suggestion from Reinhart was that I take a Nocturnal Dirt Nap, I believe. It was in rambling reply to a post by me criticising his business practices and abuse of customer's trust. In that same post I criticised the owners for their failure to allow those abused members a voice. In fairness, I doubt many felt impelled to take issue. I thought it was funny at the time and still do. I felt and still feel that protection of the members from preditory vendors is incumbent on all of us and open honesty regarding transactions is the answer. The vendor feedback forum is a huge and long overdue step to that end. I applaud that addition to this website. I might add that the ONLY vendor on either website who has issues of any kind is leaving. He brought a lot to all of us in the Marauder community and he also abused members, some beyond belief. While I won't rejoice at DR's leaving, neither will I shed a tear. Indeed, there may be those whose experiences were positive in nature. That being said, any such experiences do nothing to repudiate or mitigate the mendacious treatment many customers have been subject to. Of which, some of the most appalling accounts are not even common knowledge. The metaphor of a wolf in sheep's clothing comes to mind.

You know what the worst part of owning a Marauder has been for me? With so few cars left, probably 85-- left running on the streets I have never seen so many clicks in this small of a group. I have always owned the cars that the masses didnt approve on nor have much respect for...If I didnt enjoy the Marauder experience so much I would have washed my hands of it and the Forums involved with them.
There is a ton of experience that I enjoy reading and learning about but the constant bickering etc makes the Marauder experience bitter sweet. It seems like everyone wants to be a part of the drama....have at it! I have had nothing but positive experiences with DR and all the other vendors I have dealt with so at this time I think there is a good future for my further modifications. Im not on here to make friends or become apart of a click, my life doesnt revolve around Forums or the BS involved. I just would like to see more Marauder owners come together and enjoy the experience together. Isnt that why we log on? Just my .02 take it for what it is.
I believe that everyone who has had a bad experience with DR has spoken up at every oportunity provide and their voices have been heard...Let sleeping dogs lie and get on with your life, I cant tell you how many times I have been screwed out of thousands of dollars modding vehicles...I have chocked it up as a lessons learned and moved on. Why dwell on negatives in life when it is too short...my opinion has been said...Hope to see all the Marauder folk at events and hope to learn more.

Before anyone prematurely bemoans the loss of D.R as a supporting vendor, they might first want to contemplate why it was that many of the previous major vendors chose to bid adieu. Or, consider precisely why so much controversy tends to always surround D.R. History, is indeed history, however, it is farcical to have sympathy for an individual who has willfully endeavored to harm the businesses of other vendors, as a means to propel his own. To make no mention of his perfidious business practices that have resulted in adverse circumstances for many of his customers. His farewell reads like a typical attempt at soliciting empathy, to which many are more than willing to oblige. I won't fault anyone for expressing positive sentiment, if that was their personal experience. However, I wonder if perhaps we should instead reserve our empathy for those who were subject to such unscrupulousness, rather than for the person who profited from it.
If anyone took offense to my comment to Mary (including Mary) let me publicly apologize.
However, It is my belief that my statement is factual.
Dennis was offered a lot of business restructuring help throughout the years (from myself...and Mary included, amongst many others) He turned us all away.
From a website owner standpoint, I believe the owners (and mainly Mary, simply because she is the silent leader) realy fumbled the ball by allowing Dennis to bend so many customers over.
Whether anyone knows it or not, the owners are and were aware of a multitude of problems created by DR. How they handled it, or lack thereof, has ultimately caused many of the ill feelings we all share today.
And this all stems back to the 'soft side' comment. Rather than nipping the problem in the bud, many fruitless efforts to motivate DR to become a better businessman have failed.... failed the members, failed themselves, lost respect, burned bridges.
This one man has crumbled the building blocks that built this website and turned many once friends into strangers.
You should all be applauding his exit and rejoice in knowing that this is not the beginning of the end, rather the just the end of the beginning.
We will all be better because of this and hopefully mend the tight knit community we once had... at least that is my hope.

By all means explain your point. I could be way off base. It would not be the first time.
Those who choose to ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
You also need to realize that those who had the major problems were not guys who simply ordered parts from him, but had major work and a major investment in their cars.
From your signature, it appears you simply ordered parts from him, that usually worked out very well, no issues there.
But the major issues should not be overlooked, for all of us can learn from them.

No, that's not what this means, he's not going out of business, just not being a vendor here. You can still buy from his site, if you want to and he said he's going to start his own forum.

I fail to see how you are in a position to question whether or not I or anyone else has the perogative to express our sentiments. One of the major issues that had plaqued this community had long been the lack of such expression. Whatever my own experience may have been, it is hardly something that I fixate on. That being said, I am as entitled as anyone else to offer my own commentary, and in doing so, have always displayed the utmost civility. To make no mention of the fact that there is a very specific reason why those of us feel the way we do. If you object to my comments, you'll have to pardon my indifference.
I think he was telling 2,4shofast that some people are not going to let the past go, you included, for a very good reason. And that before you say, "oh the past is the past," it would probably be a good idea to find out why so many are not willing to do that. I don't beleive the comment was in any way derogatory towards you, if anything it was stating that you have a reason to remember DR and the past.

I think we all want to hear about bad experiences with venders. We take the information and use it to make informed decisions about what venders we will or won't do business with. That benefits us all. Where things go downhill is when these reports degenerate into repeated personal attacks. They don't help us. There is no additional or new information that will add anything to the decision making process. They are not fun to read, to say the least. What's the point? We already know you had a bad experience. We understand that you hate the man. Why keep bringing it up? It's bad for your health. High blood pressure, ulcers, that sort of thing. I, for one, don't want to see anything bad happen to anyone here. I look forward to the day when we all can let this go and move on with more happy, healthy and fun discussions.

All the "approved" mods are already documented with the Search feature. Besides, there are only 8 of them:
1. Trilogy Supercharger
2. Lidio tune
3. PI Stallion converter
4. 4.10 Gears
5. Metco control arms, watts link and drive shaft loop
6. Indash stereo and speaker upgrade
7. Wheels widened at Weldcraft
8. Dead pedal from BigCars4Ever (member here)
Anything else and you get your ass handed to you and told where the door is.

Ok, that was over dramatized, but you get the idea. The problem with our car and our community is that they didn't make enough of the cars over the years. As a result, the aftermarket didn't see fit to offer up cool upgrades. Everything we have is because someone in the group went out on a limb to get them. Hell, there were fights about several of the above mention mods as it was.

Pay attention to what the fastest of the cars, and trucks, of their type are running. For a torque converter, it aint PI. :p
I think I can say that now that I am not bashing another supporting vendors product, correct?
I am trying to get another vendor to 'mature' their torque converter product a little more before I start offering it on a wider scale. So far he is beating the pants off the competition, but there have been some minor issues that I think need to be ironed out before they are good enough for me to stand behind them as the 'best'.

If you're referring to the Circle D converters, Dennis sold a few of those, got nothing but complaints and had to swap them out for PI converters.
My Circle D was no good, I went back to a PI.
And service/rebuild turnaround time is much better with PI, you can send them a converter on Monday, have it back on Friday. That way you can pull a tranny one weekend and re-install the following weekend. Circle D couldn't come anywhere near that quick turnaround.
But maybe you've found another supplier and I'm off base, if so I stand corrected...

Todd didn't do *anything* except stand on the sholders of those who actually did do great things for the Marauder. Marty wanted all the mods done to his car and Todd acted as a middleman. People wanted cool exhaust systems and Todd owned the shop where the Master did the work. (where is that shop now? Oh yeah, he had to close it because he screwed the guy over who actually knew how to weld...)
Yep, and the difference between Todd and myself is that when I'm wrong I will admit it and move on.

That's not how I heard it all went down John.... by more than one source.
What you just said is what 90% of auto shops do, use customer money to do things for the customer. You tell the guy "I want X" The guy says "I want $", you pay they play.
Even architects make money that way.
A lot of work gets accomplished by middlemen.... even you did not design and build each and every part on your car. Someone else did that and you benefited from their work.
You dislike of Todd blinds you, I understand your position, don't get me wrong, but he's not the 100% evil villain many paint him to be.
To add on more thing, your post above shows that you have not gotten over it. If you keep bringing the injury up, you have not gotten past anything.

:D
Nah... someone else designed the Roots Sc, the engine, the pumps, the injectors... etc...... see my point?
Just like everyone hates salesmen... buy NOTHING gets done without a sales person being involved.

Brian,
Oh yeah, absolutely. If you want an off the shelf, one size fits all torque converter that you can get tomorrow, then PI is your source.
And you all should talk to the vendors out there that offered PI in their earlier days about issues. EVERYONE has issues. It's just not that everyone has people that go out of their way to point them out.
But my issue with PI is that they just stopped once they met the point of mediocrity.
If that's what you what I guess. Quick delivery on a mediocre product that could be great except for the fact that the manufacturer just doesn't care enough to go any further with it because they found the bare minimum that it takes. Ok...
And Brian, you had a converter that was built by PI that had absolutely nothing done to it other than be relined by Chris with a clutch material other than paper. All that does is make the converter clutch hold lockup and I don't think your issues had anything to do with that.
If you want to bash, at least be accurate in your bashing.
I never heard about Dennis having such problems so I just asked him. He said that the only one that had a problem was you. He directly told me he hasn't had the problems you say he has.

am not afraid to call a spade a spade (whatever the hell that means!).
The phrase predates the use of the word "spade" as an ethnic slur, which was not recorded in usage until 1928; however, in contemporary U.S. society, the idiom is often avoided due to potential confusion with the modern racial slur.
Why could you have said "I call them like I see them".:argue:

I'm just not a member of the Hate TAF club, never was, if that's you're reference, Zack. Himand I have reached a level of understanding. It comes from the fact that I'm a dick sometimes and realize that if I want people to judge me after they get to know me, I need to do the same for others.... even you Zack...
Yes, we're ok..... I don't hate nobody... and I only have 2 on my ignore list.... I want to see how those newbs pan out....

I'm just not a member of the Hate TAF club.Nor am I. I think I would have to say I am a member of the "I hate it when Todd falls on his sword" club. When he wrongs others, I point that fact out. Calling it as I see it. Tell me you didn't see it either?

"Haters" is a hard term... used to freely.
Yes, he has a "special" way of expressing himself... and I have spoken with him about it.... he tells me when I'm wrong too... guess that's what friends do.
The hard part for all of us is not taking things personal, or making them personal. Not easy. We all tend to get our panties in a bunch over truly inconsequential things.
In the big scheme of things, cars are not important....
Thought this thread was about DR leaving? My fault I suppose.... should just keep my fingers off the keyboard sometimes....

Too bad Todd had to be such a big cry baby about the whole thing. His loss.
But just be careful where you get all your good information on the other site. There are a LOT of, what I like to call, "leg humpers" over there and will continue to share only one side of the story.
Stop it John; your making me laugh too hard for a Monday morning. I don't want to pee my pants. ^^^^^^

Yeah, I am real particular about who I let call me a ********ing M*****F*****. Still not sure why? But I must have done something? Right? How you can can continue defend the indefensible is beyond me. You are only a friend as long as it is convenient. And then you'lll be a POS too.

Guy's.... I know, I know. I never said he was right about that.
The indefensible was also defended here for years, but how many spoke up? How many times were problems with the original subject of this thread brought up, defended, then threads shut down?
How often did Todd bring it up, and was vilified for doing so? In fact he became the target for pointing out the major problem of people having real issues with DR! And not just parts being delayed.
But there was so much silence ....... Todd did not look the other way, and he became the enemy.
Ill just remove it all for you Mike!

Maybe he doesn't remember the bashing he got over Barry's (Greyghost) car.
And when PI re-rebuilt mine after Circle D, they said the clutches were totally burned up. Less than 1000 miles.

Holy crap dude, when I got your transmission it was burnt from one end to the other. And considering how many, and who the parties are that tried to make you happy with your transmission...
Ever think that maybe the real problem wasn't either the transmission or torque converter.
I mean, something was causing stuff to burn up. Nobody is denying that and nobody ever denied that you had huge problems. Maybe it wasn't those parts fault though. Maybe something outside the transmission or converter was causing this. They may have been the victims as well. I know others have said that and it was even suggested last time we had a discussion about this.
I am fine with you being pissed about how your situation went. But I just tend to have huge issues when people start conclusion jumping and blame placing instead of trying to work together to figure out where the real issue is that is causing the problem. I definitely don't think it's the most wise route to be alienating those that might honestly want to try and help and then run around casting dispersions about them every single chance an opportunity is found.
The time to carry on about it is when you find someone that either intentionally did you wrong or where you honestly did your part to work together to resolve a bad situation and they told you to get lost. Not when you decide to change routes and not talk to the people that would have helped you if they had been given the chance.
I mean, Karma is honestly a ***** and people that act like that often end up spending THOUSANDS more than they ever should have just to get back to a starting over point.
To each his own though. Everyone has to choose their own path and live with their choices. Unfortunately some like to try and make others suffer when things don't go their way.

Yep, and the difference between Todd and myself is that when I'm wrong I will admit it and move on.
