JLT CAI Hood Rub

I am considering buying a JLT CAI over a k & N due to price. I understand that performance is similar but the JLT rubs the hood.

How bad is the rub on the hood and is there a fix to this problem?

Not enough to matter! Mine is very slight.

Mine rubs about a 1" section and thats it. Its just nicked the linner a bit.

I'm just fine with it.

I glued a piece of grey leather where it contacts. No issues....

There is some rub, more extreme on some than others. Mine made a mess of the part it rubbed on. The black felt/leather is a good idea.

mine has a small rubbing area, Dark_knight has a big rubbing area.

Just make sure the CAI is adjusted right and the hood liner isnt hanging down, its all you can do

My experience with this kit is similiar and I noted that where the liner was being rubbed there is a "ridge" on the underside of the hood. I took off the hood liner and with a sander smoothed down that ridge and that helped a lot.

The hood liner is not stretched tight enough acoss the hood so maybe some double side tape can help. Don't put the tape where the rub is, but under surrounding areas. FWIW.

sounds like all the JLT kits rub to some degree. thanks for the feedback. good ideas on a fix
