So I've noticed this past week that my throttle seemed to be sticking just a little bit. I figured it needed to be clean. Sure enough it was somewhat gunked up. Used some CRC TB & Air-Intake Cleaner on the TB and cleaned it right up. After reinstalling it back on the car I noticed now that 90% of the time (drove about 100 miles today) the rpms seem to hang when coming to a stop then the rpms will drop to idle. Does this in Park or Drive after a blib of the throttle. Is there something I need to lubracate on the TB that would fix this?

Have you looked at the throttle cable to make sure it's not binding up somewhere. Move them around a bit and make sure they're free. Check the linkage and pulley gizmo on the side of the throttle body and make sure they're moving freely and nothing is binding up there.

+1 on the throttle cable...

Also, check the cruise control cable for binding...

I believe you have cleaned the gunk that was blocking the air flow at idle and now have more air at idle......it is just the IAC working like it is supposed to!!

Adaptive learning will fix this in time.....you can disconnect the negative battery terminal for a few minutes to reset the EEC.....a couple of days of driving (20 starts or so) should settle it down!!

You sure its not loose? I heard of carbs that would suck in air and have idle issues if they werent tightned down all the way.
I also had that issue when my intake tube was loose.

Whenever you move dirt out of the throttle body, its very possible some of it ended up between the throttle shaft and the housing, causing the bind.
Check that first.

I took the throttle body off and spent an hour cleaning it. I will check the linkage and throttle shaft. Thanks!

There should have been a warning sticker on the throttle body telling you not to clean it. The blades and bore of the throttle body has a special coating on it from Ford. This coating being removed will cause idle problems.

Uhmm have been cleaning TB's on all the MM's with above mentioned CRC product ... no problems whatsoever.

May have to move that comment to the welded gears and Turbo-Nator forum .... :D

There was no coating of any kind on mine!!:shake: I have removed and cleaned it several times over 195K miles and have NO IDLE PROBLEMS!!!

As carbon and gunk builds up the slight air gap around the butterflies becomes smaller and smaller eventually causing the butterflies to stick when closed....you will feel it as a jerk in the accelerator pedal as you accelerate from a stop!!:help: During the accumulation of gunk there is a progressive restriction of idle air through the butterflies. The AL feature now allows more air through the IAC to compensate!!

As I stated above cleaning the throttle body allows more air around the butterflies (temporary high idle) which will eventually be compensated for by the AL feature but you can reset it by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes....give it a try!!

If you still have erratic idle after AL resetting there could be an air leak somewhere else??

Good Luck!!

The special coating is there to prevent gunk buildup on the TB. With the buildup that's there, I'm thinking it's not really doing a whole lot of good. On the other hand, if it really is doing good, you may have to clean the TB every month now!

I'm with Jack. Computer needs to re-learn air in... Don't worry about it. It should magically fix itself in a few days.

I never did unhook the battery but it seems to be working itself out. The idle hang is still there but def. not as much as before. Every time I drive it seems to be less and less.

This was the first time mine has been cleaned in the 120k miles of it's life, it def. needed it.

Adaptive Learning just doing it's job!! You should be back to normal in a few days!!;)
