Let me start by saying I don't trust anyone with my car, even myself on rare occasions.
Yesterday I took her to get the new rubbers put on at a tire shop that has done pretty good work on other cars for me. The tires ride good, etc. but I discovered this morning that when I hit bumps there is a "clank" type noise coming from the rear/trunk area. Stopped, took everything out of the trunk, went down the road and still heard the noise. Anyone have any idears about what this could be before I unleash a world of pain on that shop? Only odd thing I noticed was that the guy took it upon himself to turn my air suspension on even though I took it to them in the off position.

Did you or the shop turn the air suspension off?

Check you lug nuts and make sure they are all tight... Check the trunk and make sure that they turned the air suspension back on if they even shut it off before putting it in the air!

I turned it off before I handed over the keys. Didn't trust that they would do so before lifting it.

Sorry if I sound insulting, but I presume you turned it back on? I'd check the lugs and if that doesn't work... I don't know what to tell ya!

Spare or jack loose? I will just name the cheap stuff first, suppose to be nice this weekend...dont want to ruin that for you. Did you want to take it back to the shop and let them figure it out?

Spare was removed to transport new tires but I still haven't put it back in. Whats this about the E-brake ?

oh... new ballgame... readjust the spare tire and tighten it down more... or if the spare is still out... put the spare back in and see if it goes away!

If I can find a quick fix that'd be nice. Because I know I won't have much time to take it back to them before they go "well as far as we know that happened sometime after you left our shop. not our problem."

The spare tire could have been resting up against something in the trunk and when you took it out, the "clunk" became freed up... if the tire is in and clunking, it may not be fully secured

Lessee, the '03's have a full size spare and isn't the jack and lug wrench stowed under and on the threaded hook that holds the whole mess together and tight.
There's a rule about this though: once the spare is removed, that stuff can never be correctly put back again. In any case, I bet that's your problem. .....glad to be of help ..mike :D

Problem solved. I was dusting the Marauder off at work today (damn pollen!) and when i went to put the duster back on the shelf (in the trunk) i accidentally hit the amp and noticed it was "wobbly". Gave it a good tug and found that the entire plastic enclosure thing that houses the amp and left 6X9 speaker was hanging by one screw. Though I'm still a bit curious how that came about, I can now drive down the highway without worrying about something falling off... at least, for now. Weekend isn't ruined after all. :D Thanks everybody.

Problem solved! You can rest easy for the weekend now! I can't wait to get my car back!
I had a feeling that it had something to do with up around the spare tire area
