ok guys i need your help here understand whats going on. let me say this, my best time from last year was as follows:

60'-2.214
330-6.085
1/4-14.16@99.07

now last night i beat my previos best time with this:

60'-2.07
330-5.92
1/4 14.06@98.61

my question is why is the mph lower on my fastest run? shouldnt it have been faster since i got outa the hole nearly 2 tenths quicker? would this be due to the 255's vs the 245's?

Since the first 60 feet matters most, the slower mile per hour could have been due to different air density or yes, the 255's

Dont read too much into it, you DID go faster.

In drag racing it's quickness, you are trying to achieve, not speed.

You need to practice your launching some more.
1st try
60' 2.09
14.19

2nd try
60' 2.05
14.07

3rd try
60': 2.021
13.720 @ 99.76 mph

4th try
13.74 @ 99

This is for the same vehicle, not 2 different cars with like mods. Generally if you get a better 60' time your mph will be slower. The reason is the car doesn't have as much distance to gain the speed.

Terminology check: 'quick' describes E/T. 'fast' describes MPH.

I agree that a better 60' (a better launch) seems to yield a quicker E/T, but slower MPH; this has been my experience. However, I am wondering about your rationale. Are you describing perfect traction versus some wheel spin?

Yes. Lets say you launch at 4k rpm and don't spin the car will have jumped out lets say 20' then starts accelerating from there. But if you launch and you spin the car only jumps out say 10' and accelerates from there and has more distance to gain speed.

Hope that makes some sense.
