Hi there, fellow MM enthusiasts in the New York area :) Greetings from :canada:
I'm looking to make some mods to my '03, but what I've discovered is that most of the parts I need are in the U.S. That's fine, but what sucks is the shipping charges I'm facing. Not only that, but many vendors aren't even willing to ship to Canada!
I thought of using a PO Box, but it seems they can't be rented by foreigners. Plus, the large ones are pretty expensive, and wouldn't save me any dough.
So, I'm in a jam. What would be cool though would be if I had a US address where I could get things shipped to. Then, I could pick up my shipments and carry them back to Toronto myself. That would be cool. And, it would save me a bunch of money even from vendors who do ship to Canada, as they usually charge way more than for the 'lower 48'.
So, ahh, anyone in the Niagara Falls/Buffalo area with an address (and a wee bit of room to keep a few items for a little while) they wouldn't mind sharing with a fellow MM nut, a pal from up north, a northerly neighbour, a Maple Leaf Marauder?
I can bring some Cubans for your trouble:cowboy:

Thanks fellas,
If it came down to it, I think a 4-hour drive one-way is too far. That'd be pretty much a whole day of driving. A round-trip to Chicago would pretty much mean an overnighter. I might go that far for an engine or something big, but not for what I have planned (headlight parts). Thanks though, I appreciate it.
I think I'll have to stick to the area bounded by Rochester, Corning, Erie PA and the Great Lakes - about 3 hours one way, half-a-day round trip.
What about the Detroit area?

What about the Detroit area?
Say, you're the audio dealer with the Premier nav units on sale, right? I've been thinking of one of those.....this could make it worth the extra time to drive to Detroit.
Are you saying you'd be willing to hold a few shipments for me?
We should be able to work something out. I am on the other side of the state but know people who can help get this together. If you need to call my number is 269 637 1994.

I'm on the west side of Rochester. I'd be willing to help out if you don't find anyone closer.

As a fellow Canuk it sure is nice to see you all try to make things easier for this fellow. I remember being in his same shoes. Lucky for me things had not gotten bad yet and the dollar was at par.

I have a US address on the other side, in my case...Blaine, Washington. There are usually a bunch of places stateside in the border towns that offer up US addresses to Canadians. I pay 2 bucks to pick something up from there regardless of size or weight. Heres an example of one place:

Amazon wouldn't ship my foam gun to Canada so I had it shipped to my US address.
Good luck.

I ended up going with this type of service. Thanks, freakstatus, very much for this tip - I had no idea such services existed :)
In my case, I chose one in Niagara Falls, and they charge $5 per package: http://www.usaddressinc.com/mailbox.html
I found a really good thread on this sort of thing here:
