I'll be departing at 8:00 AM and will be passing through Charleston, WV around 2 PM. Your timetable should put you there about the same time if you depart closer to 9:30 AM (i.e. mid-range of 9-10 AM). I'll call you when I am approaching Charleston about 20 miles out.
Your note in the GastHaus Restaurant thread says that you are not planning to arrive until around 8 PM .... so where are you stopping for 2 hours between Charleston, WV and Louisville, KY?? ;)

5-0, 5-0 Same as always. :D
What's FRS radio? Like walkie-talkies? Should I get one for the trip and if so who sells it.

Yup, limited range. Good idea to have on for convoying.
You can get them at almost any electronics store; one of the big boxes, Radio Shack, etc. Maybe check with Pops Stereo, he may handle them as well.

Family Radio System (FRS)/Ground Mobile Radio System (GMRS). They are limited range hand-held radios. Great for convoys and such. The BX at Norfolk/Oceana sells them in the $40-$70 range.
FRS is limited to about 2 miles, 7 frequencies, and low power. GMRS is good to about 10 miles, 32 frequencies (and subbands), and a little higher power. Actual range is limited to Line of Sight (LOS) and other conditions.
I have a set of rechargeable Motorola TalkAbout T6500 dual FRS/GMRS radios that I paid about $50.00 for back in 2005. Just offered a set of Uniden radios on the member raffle that had some additional nice features for about $69.00.
The PX/BX has good prices but generally a limited selection. You can also pick them up at Target, Best Buy and many other department stores.
Do you need the radios? Not necessarily --- but it does make the convoys more interesting to listen in on all the MM chatter and give you heads up on turns, lane changes, or pointing out "interesting" people on the highway. ;)

Roger on that.
I've been borrowing a radio from 03mmmonroe the past couple years, will be getting a set of my own this year, good accessory to have when we all get together.

Well worth the investment, if only for the entertainment value while in the convoy.
Well I'm sold! So, if I get one, I turn it to 5-0 and leave it on until I hear Marauder-ers talking, then I'll know I'm close to a fast moving group of Kentucky bound Flying Fourdoors?

They are usually sold in pairs rather than eaches.
