I really don't mean any disrespect fellas but i've always hated clones, it doesnt matter if its a 6cyl mustang, a fake impala ss, marauder, 6cyl magnum on 24's with a dual exhaust, or a 6cyl charger. I just never saw the point.

Well thanks for the childish feedback/negative comments!
And not to offend any Marauder owner but I think a Mercury Marauder would be considered a clone of a Ford Crown Victoria. Technically speaking the Crown Victoria has been around before and after the birth of a Mercury Maruader. And I guess it looks good until a Marauder flies by me is true but it isn't all about racing.

I dont think he was trying to clone his car into a Marauder...maybe he liked the rims and bought them...Not everyone can afford, have room for or want a Marauder...or an 8 cy charger or magnum or mustang. Most ppl get what they like and make the car more of theirs then the next one. :twocents:

No need to get upset, you had to have known you'd get flack posting anything but a Marauder on this site. Heck, read some of the threads, we bash each others MARAUDERS here!! Personally, I think your car is slick, you have upgraded it. Be alot better if it was blue, but it's all good.

The Marauder to Grand Marquis conversion also includes a small oxygen bottle between the front seats and a handicap parking sign. No offense to anyone who breathes oxygen.

I think you got us all wrong. We own a car that is unique and distinctly not a CV. (As I can attest to , having owned both.) We're a relatively small group because of the low production level. Therefore you might understand the pride and feelings of defending a dying breed that sometimes goes along with ownership of a car of such limited numbers. Speaking for myself, the massive chrome wheels are iconic to the Marauder. While flattering that others admire them enough to put them on another car, I admit to wincing at the thought. It might be similar to one of us putting a Jaguar hood ornament on one of our cars. That does not make us childish. It's a fairly natural reaction and not meant to offend you personally. After all, you are on a Marauder enthusiast's site and should expect an honest response when you post. ;) Believe me, it's not our intention to cause you hurt feelings. :)

No need for anybody to be upset. I just purchased a daily driver and a very reliable car that I know that I can run regular fuel and not worry about pinging or detonation. I can easily drive this car up to 250,000 miles before I would have to worry about oil pump failure or rebuilding the bottom end.
If I wanted a 32 valve racer I would of kept my 03 terminator, and not ride around with a 2 ton tanker. But I am all about changing looks of cars and making them different from others.
Maybe in the future if I want to be a little competitive, I can slap some trick flow heads and cams and very easily make 310 rwhp. which is capable of passing a mercury marauder with all bolt ons on a highway. Or maybe if I become more motivated I can bolt on a paxton or a vortech supercharger which can potentially blow off all four doors, trunk , and the megs exhaust tips off a marauder.

I am the one who bought your wheels off the CV. :burnout: Do make sure you recalibrate your computer. I had DR send me a tune for the cv and he put both wheel and tire sizes for calibration. The MM wheels look great on your car. Thanks again for the cv wheels. I have CV in shop right now and have been driving the MM. I will post picts of both once I get back tomorrow.

Not yet, I didn't realize that I left the tire sensors in the old lx rims (that I sold) so now I have a warning message going off on my dash that says "Tire Fault Sensor". Not sure if I should just buy 4 new sensors or maybe take it to a Ford dealer and have that code taken out. I wonder how much of a difference in tire/wheel height? I know that the old 17" rims with tires were 27.1" in diameter.

Thanks, I had to sell my cobra because I got addicted to the speed and kept on racing every fast car that pulled on the side of me. I got pulled over by the same Massachusetts state trooper 3 times in a row going over 140mph. He gave me a 2 hour warning of what he would do the next time he catches me. So I realized that I could probably lose my job due to not being able to control myself driving a 650rwhp mustang. I miss it alot though!

Maybe a N/A Marauder. Mod for mod the 4V will always be faster then the 2V.

Don't you, a Marauder owner, know that the Marauder wheels are NOT chrome, but polished aluminum, and 18" is not what many would consider massive either, it's more like the "just right" size.

But did confirm with Mr. Man that you are correct. Chrome...aluminum , they're shiney. What do I know, I'm just a girl. It doesn't change my opinion about seeing them on other vehicles.

Well, I'm going to take it as more of a compliment to our wheels than a denegration of the Marauder tradition. They look nice on your car, but you've got to do something about the front suspension. Way too tall to look good.

I was told by the Ford dealer sales manager that they ordered 14 of the last lx sports from 2008 and they sold them within weeks. There were people coming from the Carolinas to pick them up and restore them and I was very suprised to hear this. So I took the last one which was a demo with 6,000 miles on it.

I'm putting marauder wheels on my 04 crown vic, not to make it a clone, but just because they look GREAT. They totally change the stance and fill out the wheel wells properly. Finding another rim and tire combo that will look better is next to impossible without looking gaudy. I definitely wish I could afford a marauder, but I can still hang with most of you NA MM guys in a race :) Nitrous express ftw hehe

I also got a little flack when I put my MM wheels on back in 2004. I had Dennis R. do the driveline too in 2007! :) Back then, the MM was very far out of reach with my finances. It was actually cheaper to convert to 32v than buy a MM.
Since then, it seems that the friendships made here have elevated above the prideful bickering. For example, once in a while a member contacts me if I haven't stopped by in a while just to see how I'm doing. My own family doesn't even do this; the shame!!! Another example...When I was considering adding a Trilogy; Rich and another member met up with me at Charlie's place to look over the available space to see if it was even feasible. Now that is camaraderie!
I never would mention that mine as a "clone". I detest that term! It was and still is just a 2000 Grand Marquis. Just now a little faster than is was. A fun ride to be sure! ;) I now have about 75k on the conversion, still runs well.
I would never do it again as MM prices have dropped considerably. Perhaps when I get a job, I'll finally buy one.

Cut 1 turn off the springs. That's what I did. I heard the Eibach springs have a few firm but harsh ride which is why I opted to cut 1 turn off the MM springs.

Yea man, I agree.
My 99 has been around for a while, and was the primary car I was driving when I met my Fiancee 5 years ago. Since then the motor was tired out, and sat on the grass collecting dust and rust.
It wasn't until last year that my Fiancee found a local person who had the engine, wiring, etc. etc. out of a poor wrecked MM and she wanted to restore the 99 with it.
I was a little against it at first, it was to much time and to much money to invest. True be told the amount of money that went into the car could of been used to buy a MM, from the driveline to the interior - but the one factor to us is that car has such an important sentimental value that is was worth rebuilding.
Now that I am almost done, its nice to look back and see that I actually built it up from a shell to what it is now. That is a proud nice feeling. Also feels good that I took a wrecked MM and brought it back to life, literally besides the shell and a few components (I think it was t-boned).
After the Fiancee and I are married God Willing, we plan to have a MM in the garage along with this car. Luckily she is scared of driving these big cars lol.
Now I just have to keep trying to convince her to scratch the idea of having a limo take us home from the wedding and letting us drive away in this car God Willing, with a nice smoke show to add :burnout::burnout::burnout:.

Does not compute. You should buy her whatever car she likes, especially if you plan to have 2 panthers. Also: get the limo for the wedding.

She has two of what she wants, an 04 and 97 VW. Also, doing an engine swap for her on the 97 as well. She is a happy little duck right now.
She loves the car for sentimental value, but she wont drive it. She actually wont drive any of my cars because the last time she did she got into an accident in one. Idk, just something to her that she does not want to drive any of them.
