I ordered my spoiler and got it today.

Boy was I surprised when I opened the box.

Big Ford box - opened it and found a spoiler unwrapped banging around loose in the box.

Needless to say the paint was thrashed.

Also, no instructions or hardware.

And to boot it isn't the spoiler I wanted. It isn't the crescent moon shaped on.

Here is a pic.

The part number on the box says 2W7Z-54444210-AAB.

Any advice?

Just noticed the part number on the spoiler

2W7J-5444230-AAW

Torrie from Fordparts.com emailed me immediately and is going to send me the right spoiler.

Phew!

2W7Z-54444210-AAB is the right spoiler. They must've misboxed the returned unit before sending it to you... :(

That being said, My dealer had to order FIVE of them before we finally got one that was unmolested, packed properly, had good paint, and had the installation kit in the box.

Pay particular attention to the very tip of the spoilers when they arrive.

So, don't be surprised if you have to do this a few more times to get a decent spoiler. Make them pay the shipping back and forth too...

Hey Directedby...I bot one at John Eagle LM and installed it with the help of my lovely bride, two weeks ago. The biggest challenge was sitting in the trunk trying to position the templates consistent with the not-too-precise pictures. Take your time & eyeball where you think the templates go with the holes in the wing. You should get a hardware packet with plastic two-sided tape thingies that allow you to mark the holes on the outside.

Warning, the screws are too short & you may end up with one lost (and rattling) inside the deck lid if you're not careful. Use some piano wire to act as a retriever until you are ready for final tighten. The instructions on pulling the red tape covering do work, but do not tighten the screws until the tape covering is all removed. You will need an assistant to get the spacing right, but it really is an easy job. Good luck.

I had mine thrown in as part of the deal. The dealership ordered it and a week later I went to have it installed. They said "three guys in the parts dept. eyeballed it and it is purrrdddy. When the body shop pulled it out of the box it looked like somebody had been hunting wabbits with it. The body shop owner refused to put it on my car in that condition(I refused too). The dealership paid to have it resprayed and then installed.

It was a pain in the can but they made it right. That says something.

I'm confused...I though Torrie was from FordPartsNetwork.com, not fordparts.com...I thought they were two different businesses?

I have sold dozens of these and you're right. They are not packaged properly. I've had to ship back at least 5 of them. RAY

To all,
Save some hassle and get the "primed version" only. Then take it to your paint shop of choice and have them paint it right. After hearing painted parts horror stories, I am glad I got a real pro to paint and install mine.
After I ordered mine, I found that I could have gotten a Blue one already painted. Hevere, now I am glad I didn't.

AAAAAHHHHH!! Why didn't I listen to Gordon's good advice??? My black painted spoiler arrived today, along with my molded splash guards. I carefully removed the contents from the box. Well, wouldn't you know it, they stuffed the splash guards into the spoiler box, and scratched the %$&@ out of the spoiler... The rest of the spoiler was pristine, not a mark or blemish on it.

I was so hacked about the spoiler, that I didn't even look twice at the splash guards to see if they were the right ones. Will do that tonite!

When we purchased our 2004 Marauder, the dealer asked if we were interested in the spoiler. He brought out the box and the spoiler was properly packed with form fitting foam around the ends. There was no problem with the paint at all so we had him install it. Looks great.

Also just picked up my splash guards today. Looks like the CV rears fit perfectly. Either the inside corner of the front splash guard needs to be trimmed or a small portion of the inner fender liner needs to be trimmed to allow clearance for the splash guard to fit flush against the fender.

Good advice from Gordon. We only order in primer spoilers anymore. We had several come in with paint damage.

To all,
I noticed that my spoiler was not well packed in the box from Ford either. That is why I made the recommendation to just get a PRIMED ONLY spoiler. Primed is more of a hassle, but the end result is ever so much more satisfying.
I am sorry for all who have tried to get the apinted spoiler and had to re-order to get a good one.
Stuffing the mud flaps in the same box is inexcusable, IMHO.

Paint on spoiler does not have the clearcoat on it.

I agree - get the primed one and have it painted right.

The spoiler is the only part of my car where the paint is GOOD!

I will say that fordparts.com was very good about it. They fell all over themselves apologizing, and UPS picked the box up the next day (return shipping on fordpart's dime), and they will be sending me a PRIMED spoiler instead of a painted one.

Funny and sad all at the same time.
