If you get an opportunity to see this plane or Air Force One, do it! The plane stirred a sense of patriotism in me and left me with a sense of awe. The VP also came over to the fence line and chatted with the crowd, I thought that was really cool and down to earth. He had about 20 Secret Service agent surrounding him.

A day taking pictures sure beats working.

Biden seems like a pretty good guy; he sometimes has a tendency to "shoot from the hip" but thats not such a bad thing. He seems bright and has paid his dues in congress. I think he'll turn out ok.

I thought picture #1 was AF2. I was thinking it looked a little sparse.

he left his home here in DE yesterday around 8am out of wilmington airport. i guess he was on his way to andrews. we were about to pull a plane over from the other side of the field and they ordered no movement on the airport.

Nice shots! I see Joe's hairplugs are holding up well. I've been trapped on the tarmac twice because of Air Force One, it's not so impressive when you sit, and sit, and sit, and sit....

What Camera and lens did you use? Those pictures look like you had something better then 200mm glass.

Sweet Pics!!!

Andrews have an airshow every year...for the sky stunts I just walk outside and can see them. I tried to go last year on the grounds, but you have to get shuttled in. This year I guess I dont have to wash and wax the car to try to show it off. :D I dont wanna ride the bus!!! :bigcry:

AirForce2 flew through my sector yesterday (Franklin Sector at Cleveland Center). I was working the D-Side, and a trainee and trainer was on the Radar side, so I wasn't the one talking, just assisting in separation. They were enroute to Andrews AFB.

That big 757 looks like a tiny green dot to me.

In the mid 80's I worked for Boeing AC, we built three 747's as Air Force 1 at that time, (extended lounge), through out the build there was never a distinction made between AF1, and the other two, till they flew to Boeing La. where they were painted. You would not believe the security there. BTW very nice pics, great photography, thanks.

The other two were sold to private owners in the mid east.

I know what you mean. Used to go to Andrews AFB to see the Armed Forces Day Open House every couple of years. Ever since increased security resulted in off-site parking and shuttle buses, I have stayed away just because of the inconvenience. It might take 2+ hours to get back to your car after the show.

I would come in the gate off Camp Springs Road and park on the Air National Guard side of the base. My son and I would walk the show and plan to be back at the car for the Navy Blue Angels or USAF Thunderbirds (they alternate years). We'd watch the air show from that side of the runway and hit the exit right after the show wrapped up. We were off base and headed south by the time the rest of the crowd made it to the buses.

The show usually includes the older Air Force One from the Kennedy era including the one that Johnson was sworn in on. That plane was open to the public for a walk-through. Johnson had a hydraulic office chair in his office so that he could always raise it to be above everyone else.
