Hey I am thinking of selling my car to get a '67-'70 Cougar 'vert. I've wanted one for a LONG time and I think I am ready to move forward.

I have a set of uninstalled FR 4.30 gears I will let go with it.

Reply here or PM if interested. I'm thinking I will post pictures this weekend after I get it cleaned up. I'd like to know how much interest I have here. We're talking about a bone stock 2004 MM with only a drop-in K&N filter. The tires have about 85% tread left and the fan speed contoller module for the a/c has been replaced (a common panther problem). Rear tires are 255/55-18 Goodyear Responsedge - they've been awesome tires. Front are stock size BFG's.

I will consider reasonable offers - ESPECIALLY if there is a Cougar convertible trade involved....the thing is I owe about $9k on it, and I'd like to get enough cash out to spend $6k-9k on a good DD Cougar so...do the math.

I hope someone here gets it and takes good care of her, she's been a great car - I'm just ready to go back to classics for a while. :D

Only time may tell...

It's reasonable. The answer is actually hidden in post 1...on the low side of the range given.

Relisted non-auction style. I'm a little surprised that there was only one bid.

That's what I'm afraid of. I just am blown away that the auction started at $10k and never moved forward.

That's also why I gave the option of "make offer". I'd like to see what the offers look like.

I just paid slightly over $14k for mine (which was probably high, but it is showroom condition), no dings or scratches - 41k miles - from a Ford dealer no less. Good luck, you may get it.

The price may be a bit inflated...but I will entertain offers. BTW - Excellent buy on yours!

I saw this car on Ebay. I have been looking. I would consider making an offer on it, but I have driven all over the country for cars before (just to come home empty-handed because I am disappointed when I get there), and now the wife forbids it. This is exactly what I'm looking for though. Anybody got any idea how much shipping might run on something like this?

I could maybe meet you somewhere...how far are you from Atlanta? I'm about 5 hours. Does that help?

It's worth the drive for someone who will take care of it...(as long as the price is right :P)

I think I did - didn't you say you already had one when I asked if you were still looking? I know I contacted someone......

Wait - mm.ORG? No, that wasn't me.

Just saw that your auction on Ebay ended. Did you sell the car, or did time run out? I would make an offer on the car if you still have it. Just have to get rid of my wife's Volvo first :-)

If you do no reserve, I'll be all over it lol. Before you do that, why don't you just let me have it for 10k? LOL.

BTW a friend of mine has a very nice 68 or 69 Merc Cougar XR-7 convertible. Red w/ black top & interior. NICE cars!! I don't blame you for wanting one.

Good luck with the sale, but I still believe you are going to be a victim of the economy. Be patient, if you sell it cheap you will be kicking yourself later.

Hello,
Sorry to say that your Marauder would not get that price you are looking for. Our cars suck in value somehow. I do not know why. There are several cars selling for $9500 that I have searched on the internet. My car has less mileage than yours and more options and yet won't get near your asking price. Have you checked the book value recently? Don't want to cause trouble, just I wish our cars were worth more too.
Sincerely, timfromme

You're car is easily worth that amount, but the problem is that most people who see these beautiful machines simply think it's [just] a Grand Marquis that someone "pimped" out. Most people do not realize that these cars came from the factory with both looks and performance in mind. Unless it's someone who knows their cars, the average person probably would not spend double-digits for "simply a pimped-out Grand Marquis". Therein lies the problem, in my personal opinion, these cars are better to hold on to, rather than sell, because their future value may be in the "collectable" aspect and only those who are "in the know" about these machines would be willing to pay what they are truly worth... Just my 2-cents worth...

Such a nice SB. IMO No reason a rare car like this, with this mileage, should not be holding at least at $18k.

No but I will do that for the sake of the database!

I did mention the site to the new owner, I said that it was an outstanding resource for anything he wanted to know about the car. If you see a new member from Mobile, AL with a SB, it's most likely mine! Or was mine...:bigcry:
