Thought that some of you might be interested to know that the Ford Extended Protection Plan is available in terms other than what you normally see.

Ford ESP is offering a special program for those of us who plan on keeping our cars for a long time but not planning on lots of miles. They do this by extending the months but not the miles.

I recently purchased their 7 year/36,000 mile Premium Care Coverage with a $50 Deductable per visit. I purchased it through the Dealership where I work and the cost is quite reasonable.

It is available with a $100, $50 or $0 Deductable and covers just about everything except maintenance and wear items.

You can call Ford ESP directly for more info and to purchase it. The $50 Deductable Premium Care program for 7/36 Coverage costs around $1050 if you've owned the vehicle less than a year.

7 year/36,000? I guess you're not planning on doing much driving huh? I got the 7/70 a couple weeks after I bought my MM, I paid around $1100.

if they find out about your plugs, stat, and silver stars ,wont that void your warranty?

I just got the Premium Care 5 years/100K for $995 and took the option of 12 months same as cash for an additional $55. This is with the $100 deductible. And it's from a local dealer so I can always hunt them down if necessary.

I'll probably pay it off much sooner, but it's nice to have the flexibility.

I think that really depends on the dealer. In fact, my dealership installed my stat! He said it was cool.

Sounds like some of you guys got some good deals. Nice going! But for those who haven't thought about it yet, here's some more clarifications:

The Ford ESP Premium Care is the way to go since it will cover just about everything. The Ford ESP Base Care is less money but doesn't cover many of the items that can wind up costing you lots if they break. Simply put, it costs less because it covers less.

The Deductable chosen really makes a difference in the cost. The difference between the $100 and the $50 is so little that the $50 is the way to go. Opting for the $0 Deductable adds to the cost quite a bit.

It's worth looking into if you are planning on keeping the car for a long time. Obviously, if you drive it every day, then extending the warranty to 100K makes sense. However, for those us who won't rack up the miles (I live in the snowy NorthEast), miles aren't that important but the added months are. It's nice to know that Ford has taylor made these ESP options for how we will actually use our cars rather than offering only higher mileage warranties with added months.

Again, you can talk to your Dealer about ESP, call the ESP Headquarters and buy it there, or contact me and I can help you through where I work.

By the way, these ESP plans are for any Ford product.
