You gotta make this one, Indy is a neat town, and this should be a great Marauderville.

The Speedway is awesome!

If you guys are looking for more things and day trips around the central indy area, check out Metamora. I have not been down there in several years, but it was always a nice romantic place to take the better half.
Metamora is a small tourist town only 1-1/2 hr drive from Speedway. It is nice, quiet and quaint. Nice eateries, tour steam locomotive, working grist mill on the canal and horse drawn canal boats. Plenty of nicknack shops and stuff like that...you know..for the girls. Check it out at www.metamoraindiana.com

The National Corvette Museum is in Bowling Green, KY >>>>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Corvette_Museum

MERCMAN;

Since the King TUT exhibit will be in Indy during MV, could an option in the schedule accommodate those who wish to visit the exhibit?

Reservations/tickets have to be purchased far in advance WWW.kingtut.org/home (http://www.kingtut.org/home) so it would be great if there was an afternoon of optional activities.

I wouldn't want to miss the mandatory U-turn formation.

We will try to have a time for that. Sadly, the itinerary is going to be a busy one and that will mean some hard decisions on whether to see the exhibit and miss an event at MV7. The Indianapolis Children's museum (the home of the King Tut exhibit) is one of the worlds best Children's museums, and will take a few hours to see it all. My suggestion would be to arrive a day early or stay an extra day to be able to do justice to the museum.

not yet, that will be forthcoming as we get farther along. It is a brand new suite hotel with 2 flatscreens in every room. The price has been negotiated at $79.00 a night. We will be the first group to stay there as it will be open only a month when we arrive

People may not know the questions to ask. The old saying of, "you don't know what you don't know".

If you are willing perhaps you could put together an electronic "Packet" either in Power Point or .pdf. Something like you might find in a hotel that lists categories of things like restaurants, attractions, distances to nearby attractions, etc. You don't really even have to produce the information but rather just provide links to the item in your packet. For example there might be a local military museum that I wouldn't even think to ask about but you know exists. Put information or the link in your packet and then folks can research it themselves. For example, I am in Sierra Vista, Az. What would you like to know about here? You probably don't have any idea what is near here. But in my packet there would be information about:

Copper Queen Mine Tour
Stargazer's Inn
Daisy Mae's Steakhouse
Tombstone and the OK Corral
Titan Missile Museum
Southwest International Dragway
Pima County Air Museum
Fort Huachuca
Kartchner Caverns
Shoot out in Miracle Valley
Requirements to visit Mexico
etc.

Then you could offer to send that to whomever requests it.

Might be a bit of a longer haul than most want to make but the 2-1/2 hour interstate only drive is worth it for military and flight buffs alike. The Museum at Wright Patterson AFB is great. Plan on a whole day for this one. I wonder if they have a Marauder outside we could get photos with our cars next to?

That is a great idea. i'll get started on it. theres ALOT of stuff to do in hamilton county. ranging anywhere from playing on one of the best golf courses in the country, to the friday night car show on the square downtown

I don't remember seeing one but I may have missed it. It's a good idea if someone nearby could check it out.

By coincidence, I am going to set up a photo shoot with an F-35 Lightning with my Lightning and any other Lighting owners nearby in the CAM area.

According to the WPAFB Website they have one in the collection, just where is it for exhibition.

If anyone is into :gangster:, and can legally transport their guns to Indiana, there is an indoor range on the east side of town.

They used to rent guns if you can't bring your own but I don't know if they still do.

Is Don's "I don't like to make money folks..I just loooove to sell guns" still around? He used to rent light machine guns back in the 80's. And he was just off of 465 on the SE side as i remember. MAN I can't wait to be "home" for this event.

I thing he still has one one E 38th street. It is a bad area, and when he had a range on the north side there was always a lot os screwball stuff going on. He was in some trouble with the law about 10 years ago. Popguns generally operates a tight ship.

I just got word that the the old Millers Drive-in has reopened to it's '50/60's glory! They are hosting car shows and other club events and even brought back the car hops!. I was thinking that we could raid them on the way back from Metamora on Thursday night. Also, my cousin owns the Pizza King in Rushville and said she could reserve the back half of the lot just for us if we wanted to. What say Ye?

I kinda have a love/hate relationship with that guy. But I digress........We'll keep an eye on this thread regarding the hotel. Any idea when a rough outline of planned daily events could be made public? Might make a difference in determining how many vacation days to request.
