Gentleman does anyone know the policy ford takes in replacing a engine with a rod knock? Do they rebuild them? Replace with new crate long block, rebuilt engine? I've been told once you have a rod knock 90% of the time the heads are bad and metal shavings ruin cam's.
Has anyone had ford replace their engine? Appreciate hearing your experiance.

Ford installed a long block(reman) in mine in Oct 06 at 53k miles. I had a wrist pin noise on the driver side when the rpm was run up & when diassembled the # 7 & #8 cylinder bores were distorted due to overheating. I only had the car for 2 weeks when this happened, got lucky i had a 30 day warranty from the dealer. Dealer was going to replace block & pistons but Ford stepped up & "good-willed" a long block. She now has about 17k on the motor.

Mine was replaced as well. I noticed a knocking and pinging from the right side, took it in and a couple of the cylinders, the crank and the cams were damaged. It was replaced under the warranty through the dealership at no cost to me at all. I received a brand new motor straight from Ford.

Good luck with your repair / replacement.

I have a 94 Continental that was under extended warranty, had a rod knock at 50K, Ford replaced it with a reman. long block. Ford sent in a factory rep to look at the engine and the service record and the dealer got the OK to replace it. Just turned 100K and still running strong.

I developed a rod knock that was going to be rebuilt with new parts.
That turned into a shortblock, which after over five months waiting, I got a reman longblock. This was eight hundred miles before the 3/36,000.
