Im thinking of chopping my mufflers off my car, and leaving the stock tips on. I would just replace the mufflers with straight pipes. My brother did this on his R/T charger and it sounds way better. Im really tired of my car being super quiet.
Post up any vids you have of your car without mufflers! the closer to stock, the better!

I've heard this on a marauder once before somewhere on youtube.com and unfortunately it sounded like a fartcan kind of like a import ricer but v8, lol.
But I only heard this from one marauder. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chirp in

kidrobot, he's a lurker here. Whatever camera they used also was crap, so i wont base my opinions on his videos. I've heard mach 1's mufflerless and they sounded sick...
Someone on here ran no mufflers for a while before he got pulled over for it i believe, i think he had a trilogy... name slipped my mind

Reba has no mufflers. She also has the original delete tips. On a cold engine, it can be raspy, but once warmed up it sounds great. I have been told that removing the 2nd set of cats will resolve that.
I have had nothing but compliments about how she sounds.

you will benefit from a full exhaust, more than you would with a 2.25" with a 2" H pipe

I am also planning to do this muffler-delete mod.
Two things I hope if I remove the muffler.
-that it sounds like a loud muscle car.
-that it ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT sound like a import racer(fart-can, lawn mower, inline four civic, etc)
Can you answer my hopes?

How does your muffler delete sound? How Loud? any other exhaust mods? Is it much louder then the usual aftermarket flowmasters, magnaflow mufflers, etc? Does it still ahve that nice muscle car sound?

I personally don't think its loud at all, just perffffect, with a nice muscle car sound! I will eventually be adding my Stainless steel headers, getting rid of 2 cats and switching the other 2 with high flow versions.

so im guessing it would be pointless to get my two flowmaster 40's removed for a straight pipe? Just because you said its not loud at all and i think my flowmasters aren't loud at all either but have a nice muscle car sound to it.
I just wouldnt want to remove my flowmaster mufflers for a straight pipe that wouldn't make any sound difference.
Which do you think is louder? If any significance

^^^ In my opinion... It's louder without the mufflers. ^^^

taken by me with cheap camera when I had no mufflers. 2003 with the rest of the exhaust stock. I liked the sound, it unded up being just too loud for me as a daily driver. Intermittent droning on highway. Some days I loved it, some days I didn't. Several others had it done about the same time, they are still muffler free and still sound good to me.

I kinda have a hard time believing this car only had the mufflers removed, sounds more like a completely straight-piped setup. It's SOOO raspy, I just can't see a car with four cats still on being that way. Maybe I'm wrong though...

If you're considering no-mufflers / straight-pipes, also consider if your resident state has vehicle inspections and requires mufflers ( of some form ).
*Know that it's the case in NC.

Thanks to ck I too am an addict. It can be a love hate thing going mufflerless. It will sound raspy when cold, but gets better when warmed up. Here's some additional clips, click on red X's...

Well I just came back from a local buddy of mine that works at Mieneke. He owns a 97(?) mustang gt n/a that runs 11's! Well I told him that I would like to remove my two flowmaster mufflers for straight pipes and he stopped me right at my tracks.
He said he highlyt wouldn't recommend it for me because he said it's going to be real loud, but not anything like a muscle car, deep drone. He said the sound I have right now from the flowmasters is a genuine sound and that it would not sound like a LOUDER version of my setup, but will sound very Raspy and high pitched sort of like a fart can on a ricer but in a v8.
He said he removed the mufflers on a couple crown victorias and mustang gt and really didn't like it. Also the significant loss of backpressure from going mufferless may even hurt your trap times rather then help it. So instead of making him money I left home empty handed. What a good friend!
I wish someone with this setup lived near me so I could hear it in real life instead of videos.! Ty for all the help!

Going mufflerless on the MM sounded a lot like the 1960 Mercury Monterey Montclair with a 350 windsor and cherry bomb glasspacks that I used to have. Very old school.
