In the US, 300 is the "model" number of the Marauder, as built on the Grand Marquis base, while the "A" and "B" designations are the first and second "builds" in a given model year (there were only two for the 2003 Marauder). In Canada, all 2003 Marauders are "300A", although they are actually the same as US "300B" cars, due to the deletion of certain items, most notably the automatic parking brake release, electric fuel door release, standalone clock, and the addition of Traction Control, which in the US was only available on 300B cars...

There are quite a few minor variations on this as reported by other members, I guess depending on when, exactly, in the production line the changes occured...some members have a 300B car, with SOME of the 300A pieces, while others are missing all of them...it's really rather confusing...

Hello! You can do a search in the upper left and fill yourself in.
In a nut shell 300A were only black made till about early November 02. 300B have small spare,no clock in dash, no map pockets on front seat, no remote fuel door,no under hood light, B's do have traction control. Blue from Jan. till end of run (June?) Silver in April. '04 Black, Silver, dark Red.

Ok thanks guys,beautiful...also,what is the body letter desigated to the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis?You know what I mean,like a Trans Am is a 'F' body,Pontiac Sunbird is a 'J' body.

The designation you are seeking for FMC products is PANTHER -- it is the platform designation for Linc TC, Crown Vic, Merc Grand Marquis and last, but not least, our BELOVED Marauder!!!
Ford seems to use names rather than Letter designations like GM. Hope this helps you.

Jim - I think a majority of the 300B's have the under hoodlight.(mine does) Does the 2004 have the under hoodlight or was that decontented?
