Broke my outside passenger mirror yesterday, new one ordered, not sure how to remove the old base from my '04 BLKMM, I know there are three posts secureing the base to the door, not sure how to remove the retainers.
Thanks,

I'm surprised no one has replied to this.
Basically, remove the bolts around the edge of the door panel, i can't remember how many, i think it's two on the bottom, and one on the outside edge. pry the door switch panel up (it's just pressure clips holding it in), and unhook the switch harnesses. It might take a little bit of pushing on the tab and pulling if you've never done this before.
After you've removed the switch panel, there's a screw behind on the door, kind of behind the armrest. You can clearly see it. Pop the little triangle piece above the door (covering the mirror holes) off, again just pressure clips, then with all the screws removed from the door, give a tug upwards, and it should come free.
If you've got a second set of hands, remove the three bolts from the mirror base (accessed from inside the door), and have your helper pull the mirror out a bit so you can trace the wires down. I haven't done it in a while, so I can't remember exactly where it terminates. On some Fords, you need to remove the speaker to reach the plug. Just unplug the connector (the same way the switches are, there's a small tab you press down on, then pull), and pull the harness through the outside.
Then go backwards...run the wires in the door, put a couple bolts on the mirror to hold it (just finger tight), reconnect the wiring, then snug all the bolts up. When putting the door panel back on, line the bottom tabs above the holes, then line up the lock knob at the top up in the hole, and push down to secure the tabs in their holes. put the bolts back in, reconnect the window switches, and push the trim piece back in to place.
hope that helps a bit.

I will try it, sounds more complicated than I thought it would be but its getting tiresome driving the MM back and forth to work without it, and the Magnum uses more gas so I don't want to drive it daily.
Thanks for being the only one to respond.

It's really not complicated. It takes me all of 30 seconds to pull the door panel off. I just put detailed instructions to make it quicker.

I just swapped my mirror a couple of weeks ago...its really easy and took 15-20 minutes. This will make the door removal part a breeze.

Just the cover is easilly removable. I fixed Takedowns last year in just a couple minutes. They just snap on.

Thanks to all responders, this makes me more confident in tackling the job rather than paying someone else, not that I haven't had to before, just that the money is tight as many here can attest to.

I finally had time to install the new passenger side mirror on my MM, thanks to the link to the speaker installation with pix.
The hardest part was the unpluging of the old mirror jack and plugging in the new one, not big acess holes on the door.
Also alignment of the inside door handle with the latch actuator was critical. But it is done and now have a new mirror.
Thanks to all,
