Can't vouch for it or anything, but I got this email a couple of weeks ago after inquiring about a Carbon Fiber Driveshaft from PST.

"A PST "Critical Link" carbon fiber driveshaft for your Marauder. The pricing would be as follows:

3-3/4" diameter Carbon Fiber shaft with slip yoke, flange and aluminum tube yokes would run $800.00 + S/H. This CFDS is strong and light (about 12-13 lbs). You will notice much quicker acceleration, smoother shifting in addtion to less weight and rotating mass. All PST shafts are balanced to within a 1/4" oz. before being shipped.

You can reach PST toll free at 888-575-7888 should you like some more info or to speak with a tech."

Any thoughts?

I cannot speak on this particular mfg or product.

But I do have some experience with Carbon Fiber Products. There is usually a fair amount of hand work involved. The point being it is very easy to make a Carbon Fiber Prodcut but very difficult to make a consistantly high quality Carbon Fiber Product.

Choose the Mfg. very carefully. Many a well intensioned Carbon Fiber Mfg has gone bust on warranty claims due to poor quality control.

You can't go wrong with the Metal Matrix Shaft that Dennis sells. It's the best investment I ever made, the difference is un-believable. Don't mess with anything else......

drobin:

Can you describe a bit how you can feel the "difference" in the MMX driveshaft? Thanks.

I can't speak for DRobin. We both drove our cars back to back.

At the time the only differences between them was DRobin's had the MMX and rear sway bar vs mine with the 4:10.

I heard people talk about how smooth, but I felt the MM was very smooth with the stock shaft. With the 4:10 at 90 there is a vibration and at 110 it is very noticeable.

W/ the MMX in DRobin's car there is no vibration what so ever up to 110 which is where I stopped, it is not my car!

The rear sway bar also greatly improved the handling. It did make the ride a little stiffer, but I told DRobin if I wanted a Cadillac ride I would have bought a Cadillac.

Dynotech MetalMatrix shaft and it took the vibration away that the stock shaft was creating, which is precisely why I bought it, but it didn't do anything else other than that. So these claims of smoother acceleration or increased acceleration baffle me. I didn't believe or expect anything else than the elimination of the vibration and that's the only thing I acheived by installing the new shaft.

After install of the Metal Matrix drivshaft I noticed a much smoother and quieter drive line operation. The vehicle seemed to transform into a super expensive luxury car (like the Q-45 by Infinity) and you find yourself wanting to drive as fast as possible. The complete drive train is transformed!!!! Get it ASAP!

Now, I have to concentrate on my Service Engine Light issue...

Gman: well in theroy the less weight also means less recipricating mass and less loss in the drive train so more to the wheels. so says physics..but is it a measurable difference? i guess not.

but the vibration is the main thing.

I'm still waiting on my driveshaft to arrive, I ordered it last week and I know it will be an excellent investment and piece of mind.

I am having a " real hard time " finding anything wrong with my OEM shaft..................(14500m .i.)...perhaps the 300As didn't have as much trouble as later modles ? I quess I have been feal lucky, as with the Reinhart Phase one Kit, it did everyting I was needing and more.
