I live in the great rainy Northwest and have a leak I can't figure out and wonder if anyone has ever had the following problem - I have perfectly clean water in the floor well of the passenger back seat and no where else. I've pulled out the rear seat and it's dry underneath - no evidence of any water on the door panel or seat, even the sides of the floor well are dry - the water is just on the floor. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Forgot to mention it's a '03 MM.
Thanks,
Bill

I had a leak in the rear quarter window. I'd pull the back seat out and have someone hit it with the hose while you look for the leak.

Same thing happened to my dad's 99 lincoln TC, car was totaled before I could find the cause, but turned out it was somewhat common that year after removing or replacing the windshield, would leak from the windshield rubber seals, down into the interior passenger side.
Have you ever had the windshield removed or replaced?

Have you ever had any of the windows replaced? You the original owner?

While the A/C is running make sure the condensation is leaving the car via the drain tube. If a passenger kicks the tube off of the plenum - the water will go to the floor and yes - to the rear too. Pull the carpet up front and back and see where all traces of water are.

Thanks for all of the suggestions - I'll check them all. I'm essentially the original owners - it was an executive car and had 8,000 miles on it when I bought it. The windshield has been replaced twice [rocks on the interstate].
There's no water on the front floor but I'll check out all of these ideas - thanks to all for your help.

Funny, my car was also an executive car.... Then some collector bought it, before trading it back it... Thats when I stumbled upon it with 36K. Anyhow, if its not the condenser, and you can see there are water stains in the front also, I would be making a phone call to the last pace that installed the windshield... How long ago was it installed?

Check the weatherstrips on the side doors. Also check the gaps where the window frames meet the roof.

I've checked all the weather stripping - the strange thing is the bottom sill, the inside of the doors and the edges of the floor well are all dry - no water in the front - I'm going to try blasting the side with the hose.
Thanks

Check the big rubber plugs that go through the floor pan, you should be able to see them from underneith.

Thanks Yes the edges maybe dry now, but are there stains? Look closely near where the pillars come down on either side of the windshield and travel down to contact with the floor....Same thing with the pillars dividing the front doors with the rear and finally the pillars that run along either side of the rear window, you know what I mean. Just check in those areas CLOSELY for stains...
If nothing, defiantly look at those plugs on the floor boards.

Don't forget to check the drain holes on the bottom of the doors while you are at it. Just for fun. :)

I had a VERY PERSISTENT slow leak into the passenger's side of the trunk!!:argue: I tried sealers on the seams.....spot welds and nothing worked!!:shake:
Finally out of desperation I lifted the rubber molding down the side of the back glass and with a thin snout on a tube of silicone ran a bead from top to bottom.........problem fixed!!! Evidently the window install team was trying to save sealer when my car was built??
Yours COULD be higher on the glass running into the cabin instead of the trunk.....worth a try and won't hurt a thing!!:shake:
