The dealer I am buying my Marauder from has offered me a "Ford Certified" power-train warranty that is good up to 100k miles. They want $900 and my car has about 41k on it. Do you think this is worth the cost?

I've had a couple friends buy Ford warranties at a discounted price from this (http://www.discountfordwarranties.com/ford/factorywarranty.php) Ford dealer.

IMHO... I'd get it. If your engine or tranny goes up in smoke you'll be happy you got it.

I tried that link, thank you, but it is not available for vehicles over 36k miles -- mine has 41k.
Has anyone heard of [or used] US Fidelis warranty services? I saw them on TV and requested a quote, but I would rather deal with Ford due to the unstable economy.

Some of those companies skimp on the things that are needed and you have to pay the rest.
For $900, go with Ford.

What they said!
Ford Premium Care is the best around.
Engine, Tranny, A/C, Rear End goes out, your deductible, and then some, is paid for.
Good price too!

Is it a bumper to bumper or POWERTRAIN? Powertrain is only a few major components...the main things that go wrong are usually not these things.
I just had my HVAC control go bad...$600 just for the part!
New alternator replacement...$300 for the part!
Transmission replaced...$1900 for the new unit! (Although this is a powertrain item)
Rear Axle Replacement...$300+ for parts.
Just a suggestion...GEt a buper to bumper FORD warranty and breathe easy!

It is a powertrain warranty.
I am not eligible for the Bumper-to-Bumper due to my MM having over 36k miles (41k).

Is there a way to upgrade to PremiumCare?

Not sure, but I will ask. I am sure that is it not going to just $900 though.

I just talked to my "warranty man" at the local dealership, and he said you can get bumper to bumper on your MM. PM me for his phone, he has excellent prices and a number of members have purchased their Ford coverage through him.

I am in the process of doing this myself through Mercman's warranty guy for both our MMs. Thanks Mercman!!

Hi. I used the link above and tried to sign up for an extended warranty for my MM (2003, 6K miles) but I couldn't. When asked how long ago my car was purchased new with zero miles, the "more than 36 months" option was not available. Should I call my local Lincoln/Mercury dealership? Thanks!

Call 888-675-8778, Tipton Ford-Mercury. Ask for Ed Smith and mention MM.net. He will give you a fair deal

A Certified Pre-Owned from a Ford dealer basically gives you a Ford ESP Premium Care policy. I think it expires @ 70k but if you need more info I can get it. Probably a $75-$100 deductible. A very good plan.

Mercman- does this dealership actually have a service dept that will WANT TO DO WARRANTY WORK? I have ESP Premium Care and around here, to get a dealer to do any warranty work is like me dating Mariah Carey. I'd have a better chance winning the lottery.
I will say, I had ESP on my 1998 Mark VIII LSC. The dealer I took the car too claimed that ESP covered nearly 8000 dollars of repairs. That's why I bought one on my MM. However if a Marauder rolls into a FLM dealer, I notice the service personal scatter as if a leper just entered the building.

I will let no one else work on my car. To answer your question, YES. I have been extremely satisfied with their work, both in quality and ease of scheduling the repair. If you have a problem getting your dealership to work on your car, contact Ford. My dealership LOVES warranty work.
