The 2nd Annual Grillin-n-Chillin Meet will be held on Sunday, JUNE 21st 2009! Last years event was a success with the exception of the RAIN....so, this year we have a shelter just in case. The location is nice and it is on a Sunday so we should get the majority/all of the 1st parking lot!!! There also is alcohol allowed for this event as well.

Food:
This can be done a few ways. everyone can bring their own crap and we can grill it up otherwise Tom and I will go shopping the morning before and pick up all the "grill" food and everyone can pitch some $$$ for it. Everyone is responsible for their own beverages and we could even do a "bring a dish to pass"!!! What is everyones thoughts?

Families:
This is a park, bring the family, there is plenty to do and a bathroom on site. Should be alot of fun for everyone. This is also being posted on Motor city Marauders Website as well as CVN. I will get a few more pictures of the location and get them posted up but this should get things started off!!! Hope everyone can make it. Last year was alot of fun.

Ok so I got a chance to head to Elkhorn today and meet up with Zak and check out the park in person. This meet is gonna be awesome.

Park highlights that we have access too.

Swimming pool(unknown if it costs anything to swim)

Everything's still looking good for me to be there. I haven't been to this park, but I tried some e-reconnaissance :)

Looks like we'll have plenty of parking if there isn't anything else going on in the park on Sunday. The swimming pool to the south of the lighter parking lot might have some kiddies splashin' around; I couldn't figure out if the pool would be open based on http://www.cityofelkhorn.org/CityServices/ParksAndRec/Aquatics.htm, so we might have to share parking lot space with them if they're open.

I'd guess Quasar, you've reserved the shelter to the immediate southwest of the lighter parking lot, right? If so, it would make sense for us to try to congregate our vehicles in that lighter lot, althought I'd guess we might have some spillage into the darker lot to the northwest.

Looks like there's tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and plenty of grass away from vehicles to play horseshoes, ladderball, bags, frisbee, etc. I don't have alot of those implements, but it might be cool to enjoy the nice weather that day.

Lastly, Quasar, do you have expectations about gear/supplies/money that we should bring? Park reservation and food are often not free, so I think we should all expect to kick in a little something to help defray the costs. Do you have an estimate of how much you might want from people? Just want to make sure we're not having too much fun on your dime.. :)

I was planning to clean my valve caps on that specific date (before the nail cutting of course)
I don't have a Wi. drivers license, and I'm no rebel!
I was also gonna surf the net for interesting porn at precisely 11:15.
My OCD only allows me to drive south, east, (but not southeast), left or sharp right on sundays. So I'd have to come up on thursday.
I currently only have M-Sat. underware, and with the pants at the cleaners........enough said.
I'd have to bring my Ford escort for fuel mileage, don't worry, it's quite the little bad a**, its got an exhaust system (stock, but new)
And I still don't have a date

You hit the nail on the head. Zak, Not_grandpas_marquis lives a few blocks from the park and he said we should just about have all the main parking lot to ourselves. As far as we know there is nothing else going on. Yes the main shelter is Reserved as ours for the whole day.

Please bring the family along if you would like, even if you only stay for a couple hours. We will have plenty of Food. But, if it doesn't work out I do understand. We will do it again next year.. Guaranteed.


As for donations. We are gonna finish shopping Saturday and add up all the costs. It will be no more than 10 bucks at the absolute most. However, its looking like 6 bucks a person at this point, if you can. I am not expecting to break even here by any means. I just hope everyone comes out and has a great time.

Well, the meet was a success. We had about 30 cars make it at the peak of everyone being there. I screwed up and left the house without my camera but lots of other people took pics so we will get them posted soon.

I need to take a second to say Thanks to Zak(Not_Grandpas_Marquis) and Sanjin(Sanco) my co-organizers for this meet. There is absolutely no way I could of done this without you guys. THANK YOU!!!!
