Yesterday, Marauderman got to visit the Racing Shop of none other than Holman and Moody, here in Charlotte.

Ok--UNLIKE SOME WHO BRING UP THINGS WITHOUT PICS--I GOT THEM----PLENTY---SO HOLD ON…

…Actually, a close friend of mine, Howard Stafford, who knows Lee Holman, John's son, who now owns and runs the shop told Lee about my (Marauder) Red Line Beauty. Lee told my friend to tell me to bring it over for a viewing and for a shop visit. I washed Red Line up and we went for a visit. I was so excited--and here is why….

Holman and Moody , better known back in the racing era of ’50s has John Holman and Ralph Moody were highly known and regarded in the racing industry as one of if not the best in engine building and racing performance teams--this from the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s for Ford Motor Co. ….This was the era I grew up in and really knew about these guys… a lot of older crew here my age may or will remember ….anyway--- I was excited--a going back in time kind of thing.

At the Shop got to see some REAL GT-40’s, some Fairlanes , T-Bird’s , a ‘56 and ‘57 that is suppose to be a real bad you know what! There’re suppose to be running it at Z-Max in the a couple weeks---can’t wait---

WOW--These guys really know engines---Visited the guys making cams and putting together engines for contracts for some European cars. Got to meet Jim Rose, a European who has been with them from the 50’--he is in a pic behind me while looking at his yellow Falcon he is rebuilding….saw some pics you would not believe from where he has hand build (restored) some cars to perfection. He is currently rebuilding a Ford Falcon----and has done several V-12’s also - WOW-

Hummmmm…..yeah….great to get to meet these guys---wonder what they could do more for my Red Line……hummmmm--wow--if you could only see some of their engine work in the shop---drool---

I loved it all from his 5th wheel trailer--(You’ll see it in the pics) carries two(2) GT-40’s to race tracks-- to the showroom and conference room with all the older pictures and car stuff--

Anyway we took a lot of pics--which of course don’t do the shop justice---its much better in person as you would expect-- and I will attempt to provide them for all to see. I will try and provide a comment on them as well. E N J O Y….

No--The V-12's are for the Ferrari ( how do you spell it?)...and in those red ones with a hood clear window to "peek into" the engine...

Actually that is suppose to be a Fairlane....the Falcon pic is missing that I said I would be posting --need to find it an post it ----and the Fairlane is not for sale --at least yet---its really a beauty--the pics do not do it justice--the paint on it seemed several layers thick.......

My camera was/is broke--need new one--my friends camera has all the pics used here----I hope to go back with a new camera and get some pics even better ---

Holman and Moody....:bows: :banana2:
You lucky dog,I'm from the same era as you and they were IT!
I saw the two engines on the stand in the shop, the one on the left looks like an FE,was the other the Cleveland from that Pantera, you know, the NICE colored Pantera. I used my savings from the service and paid cash for a yellow 73 Pantera when I got out, even with the "minor" bugs it had it was a sweet ride.it didn't deserve what happened to it. :mad2: :bigcry:

Not sure --it could have been--Although I think they were mostly working on some foreign contract stuff at the moment----They are soon gonna be involved with some American car sports racing stuff ..I will need to pursue further and post later..but I believe it to do with the GT-40 or the Ford GT.

It hard to believe --but in their conference room , where some pics are shown with me --well, on the table were original--I mean brand new looking REPAIR MANUALS of Fords--in the 50's ----saw one of a '57 T-Bird laying around--I picked it up and it, so help me felt brand new and looked it----I dropped it and looked around as if some one was looking----it's amazing what info they have at there fingers----and now with the inter net----well hold cow--what I did not say was Lee took me into his office and showed me pics of his Father in the earlier years and with some Marauders back then--remember Fred Loreason(sp)

.........need to find those pics he sent me--for those my age --you will like--till then-- its a nice place to stop by .........

Yeah these guys did some incredible things with engines, truly genious.I was attending the Nascar races in Charlotte and Talladega in their glory days of 60's& 70's.Their engines won a lot of races.Your trip to their shop is something most can only dream about.
