Does anybody know the difference between these two belt tensioners?

The one on the right is the OE one from my Marauder and has a part number on it of (XR3E-6B209)

The one on the left I got from a vendor here and has a part number (2w7e-6B209)

I installed the one on the left this summer (about 5K miles ago) and it is squeaking like crazy, so I put my OE one back on. I only changed the OE one because my car had over 50K miles on it and I thought it was time to change the two pullies, the tensioner, and the belt).

Any advice on why they are different?

Actually...the one on the left...is the OEM part for the MM...

The one on the right is off the Cobra motor...I believe...

The only gifference is the belt guard (on the left)...

Some applications (FIT) require the one on the right (without the guard) to be used...or we just grind off our OEM one to look like the one on the right...otherwise it would bind on the blower plate...

BTW: Just lubricate the spring...and your all good...

+1 on that tip - a shot of WD40 inside the tensioner keeps the moving parts wet and squeak-free.

I replaced mine along with the idle pulley, past 2-2.5 years my car still sounds like it has a mini vortech s/c on it, pulley and tensioner are both fine, still no clue why it makes the whining sound.

WHAT??? I am 100% sure that the one on the right was "my" OEM one. That is some strange news.

Yeah, the belt tensioner is sqeaking/ whining like a little girl.

The one on the right is the early part. The '04 part is on the left. Not sure if the changeover was with the '04 or with the '03 300B.

Just wanted to update this thread:

I installed my old tensoner (after cleaning and WD40ing it) and all is noise free again.

Thanks for the help and advice.
