Hello all. I'm in the process of finding my first Marauder. I have checked out one already and will be looking at and testing more this and next week. In searching, I now have questions.:help:

The one I just looked at had a silver box under the gas tank, what is it?

The interior plastic was dark grey but it had black spots where it looked like paint came off. Are the plastic interior parts painted grey?

Concerning the 2003 models that don't have the traction control, can it be added and if so, how complicated is it to do?

I thank you in advance for any and all help in my search.

1) Under the gas tank? Describe 'under'.

2) The interior is painted grey with black dots.

3) No.

Why would you want to add traction control when most people want it turned off? The box under the tank is for emmissions control.

It's under the trunk. It is the charcoal canister for vapor recovery.

I believe what you are talking about may be the housing for the console gauges. The (paint) or vinyl dye is probably flaking off, our 03 has done the same thing. It's no biggie, just take it out and spray bomb it and it will be like new. Therefore, do NOT let that deter you from buying a Marauder.

If you are talking about the trim panels around the power window switches they do scratch & flake off from wear & tear. I had to replace both of my front window switch trim panels when I bought mine. They are not expensive to replace.

I just bought a 2004 DTR one month ago. I wanted heated seats and the power sunroof, BUT!!! After test driving the one and only one I test drove. I bought it. It didnt have the heated seats or the power sunroof but with only 26,500 mile and for sale at CarMax. I couldnt pass it up!!! It was a no brainer. I have no regrets!!

All hail the mighty Marauder:bows:

I wish i had heated seats too. How difficult would it be to install heated seats in both the driver and passenger seats?

I have heated seats, but I don't need them since I live in the Heart of Dixie. I need cooled seats like I had on my Lincoln LS.

Go with aftermarket ones. It's a real pain to add the factory ones to an '03A. I did it the hard way, I believe there's a write-up on here somewhere.

Thank you all for your comments and answers. I truly appreciate all of it.
The box under the gas tank IS for emissions, the paint on the plastic panels(console, gauges...) was indeed paint, that was evident. Someone must have sprayed it, lousy job.
I found all this out because of your comments and I just looked at another marauder that had 33k miles on it. According to the dealership and the Carfax, the mileage was correct, it was not in any major accidents and 1 owner.
Well, the 33k and the 1 owner part might be true, but the car was DEFINITELY in a HARD left front crash! The gaps were all off, left headlight and side marker were misaligned...a real mess. And when i pointed it out to the salespeople, they said they "didn't know it was in an accident, the Carfax said it was clean". People, a BLIND person could see it was hit,IDIOTS, no wonder the thing has been for sale since 7/08!:mad2: Hell, the front end even had a bad paint job. So, this proves that you should NOT take these car reports as gospel, use ALL your senses and if in doubt, PASS on it! And if that wasn't bad enough, it had a serious rap! You could hear it in the car with the hood down and the windows closed!!!:shake:

Well, I'm 0 for 2 in my Marauder quest.:bigcry:
