Does anyone know how to disable the key chime?? I would like to be able to leave the key in ignition both in garage and at work without listening to that damn chime when I open door, dealer says it can't be done...Any help?? Thanks

The noisemaker is a small ( 3/4 inch ) speaker inside of another module. I forget which one it is. GEM or LCM but I do know that if you disconnect the whole module to shut it up you will lose other functions Soooo you have to remove the module, pop the board out, desolder the speaker ( or crush its small little plate ugh ) and reassemble. Only you can decide if its worth it.

Look in your owners manual, there's a procedure to disable the door chime in there if memory serves...

Nope. No whine. Whining is caused by incorrectly set backlash. Take em back to the dealer and get em to redo the install...

The module U are looking for for the beepechtemy is the LCM control module located under the drivers side dash and far right. Black box that is challenging to get to because of the accelerator pedel adjuster assembly blocks its removal. It has 2 screws holding it to a bracket.
U can also do the Police Dark Mod from CrownVic.net but U have to open up the LCM and add a wire that comes out of the module to be grounded as the wiring harness for our cars is missing the wire for grounding that the P71s have..
I have the pins and the diagrams if U need it. My little beeper speaker is now living in a land fill somewhere and I don't miss it a bit.

If you are still on this site, send them to me, I'm interested.
I never got them....I don't think so anyway. My MM makes no noises.
but
:D
My MM NEVER made a peep since day one, it just occured to me (after 9 ownership days) that this car makes no dings at all,
EVEN IF A DOOR IS OPENED while in any gear any speed. My kid could hop out and I wouldn't even have a warning.......oh , the seat belt chime, it works.
Whats the deal. Logan, you seem to know the hard ones, should I have a door ajar alarm?

not sure you REALLY want to remove those chimes-----they are a reminder--as short or long as YOU let it...case in point--that could have cost me ---
After backing the MM into garage--turned off engine but not iginion ( I thought)and got out to check clearance of doorway( close when closing)...left door open ..while looking over front clearance,, was called back into house closing car door with chimes ringing and still ringing when closed( due to iginition left on) and later on hear chimes out in garage --went back to turn off car......would have been no getty up go otherwise.... but to each his own... you just never know when those stupid things will be the best noise you've heard....noise normally meaning ....unwanted sound....

Everyone should have a "headlight on" chime, "key left in ignition" chime (only chimes when driver door is open). There is no door adjar chime, as you are supposed to figure that one out when the lights in the cabin come on each time a door is open, and won't go out until the door is closed.
I personally like my "headlight on" chime, as I drive around with fog/running on during the day and tend to forget when I go to hop out of the car.

OK, I remember the Marquis always was dinging...always.
This car is relatively quiet. I like that. I do wish the radio stayed on when you pull the key, not opening any doors. The LS does it. Handy at the beach (there is no beach in Cleveland) when you roll down the windows, walk off and take the keys with you...

No silly. I roll mommy's windows down first. Get out and close the door. I then reach in and turn on the ign, crankup the muzak, pull the key out, and dance around the car......
