So my power pedals stopped working recently. I see that it's the gear on the brake pedal that fails:

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=44343&highlight=power+pedals

Has anyone fixed this problem without replacing the whole brake pedal assy?

If not, what does the pedal cost and how hard is it to replace?

Thanks.

I could ask Daniel from Colex and see if he can make the gear in a durable metal to fix this problem.

My pedals still work fine..... but I'd be in for a GB of a gear made out of a better material.

Pedals went belly up about one month ago. Wife has driven the Marauder, but forgot to adjust the pedals 75% of the time. Just very lucky they broke in the "down position", being that I am 6'2'' tall. Going to the dealership today to have an estimaton. Will post the part cost later tonight.

Knock wood both Phoebe and The Blackbird still have working pedals...but I would be in for a GB as well. The Bunny and I need the seats and pedals at opposite ends...

That isn't just the gear, correct?

That is the whole assembly, down to the new pedal pad.

Knock on wood - me too.

I know it's early, but I'd be in for one just so we'll know the total demand for such a thing should someone chose to make one.

I'm all for installing a better part rather than install a new assy with the same part. (Of course, it may still be a good idea to buy a new assy and install a better gear instead of trying to put a new gear in with other worn, mating components.)

I might get in the GB.

I don't recall ever changing the position since i bought mine (wonder if it still works?) or touching the climate control. Precisely 73* for me thank you.

Maybe its time to break out of the norm. Tomorrow its 72*!!!!!!

And i'm gonna toggle my lumbar just because i can!

Silverauder had the same problem last summer. The plastic gears crack .... here's some more info on the subject >>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=47030&highlight=adjustable+pedals

Silverauder had the same problem last summer. Have the same problem today. Never fixed it.:o I recall Marauder Jack saying what a PITA it was. I'm in for a group buy if Colex can make us a gear.

The plastic gear that breaks is molded onto a metal piece that I don't think can be removed easily...but I don't remember (and I threw it away)!!:shake:

It's a shame that such a small piece was "under-engineered" and causes so much trouble!!:mad2: Probably a Chinese plastic material that isn't compatible with the grease they used in the assembly....mine looked like the plastic gear shrunk and broke spreading the teeth wide apart!!:argue:

My peddles would work from time to time but for the most part they would stick in one position.

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/gallery/data/556/medium/Pedle_adjuster.JPG

I opened up my peddles to see why they were sticking. Here is what I found.

A plastic gear on a shaft...

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/gallery/data/556/medium/Plastic_gear.JPG

That spun against a metal gear.....

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/gallery/data/556/medium/metal_Gear.JPG

That caused this failure...a cracked gear

Thanks.

My 03' Marauder has the same issue. I pulled the complete gas/brake pedal assembly. I found the brake pedal gear box does not travel the full range of adjustment due to a small defect on the follower gear, which is driven by a worm gear. The follower gear has an excessive gap between gear teeth at one location, where the worm gear cannot bridge the gap.
The location of the defect happens to be at what appears to be a timing mark on the face of the gear. It would be easy to fix if the follower gear were available. Unfortunately the entire assembly needs to be replaced.
Ford Parts direct has the assembly listed for $191.00 (non memory) version.
Hope this helps.

One thing I don't recall getting much mention, and it should be obvious (but wasn't
to The Wife)- Don't ever adjust the pedal position, while standing on the brake
pedal. The adjuster is not harmed by heavy brake application, it's just not up to
adjusting while you're on the brake.

Oh man I should not confess to this but here is how I broke my pedals. My wife was in the car so she can attest to this. I was showing her, when I first got the car, how I could hold my foot stationary and use the power raise/lower on the pedals to drive the car. The pedals never worked again after that demonstration.

LOL @ the "should be obvious" comment. Apparently not for the challenged like m'self

I can only imagine her comments to you once 'Mr Smarty Pants - Car Guru' demonstrated how to break the adjustable pedals!

My brake pedal has the same problem. Any special tools required to replace the assembly? Any tips or I wish I had known things? How hard is it to replace?

Thank you,
Joe
