So Im coming home from work round 2 ish and I notice a car following me for about 5 mins so I decided to go into a 7eleven parking lot. Turns out it's an unmark police crown vic when the police came to my window he ask me is the car mine I said yes then he ask for my license then he ask what was I doing I said coming home from work and this right here takes the cake he ask do I have any drugs in my car and of course I said no at this point Im kinda pissed but thats not it this idoit ask me why is my lights so bright I told him it came with the car but it's really an hid kit all after all the headache he says the reason I pulled you over is because your air freshener you cannot have it hanging from your rear view mirror. In my head Im like the whole time your following me cars is passing me doing like 20mph faster than the speed limit and Im a cruiser I dont speed at all.

Obstructs vision. While an air freshener may not be that bad, a lot of high shcool girls hang Goldy amounts of crap from their mirrors.... they cant drive to begin with!

I think the officer was out of line asking you if you had any drugs on you, but I can understand him wanting to be cautious. I was pulled over in a parking lot because the officer wanted to see the car. He followed procedure and when he found everything to be clean he started asking me about my Marauder. Dont take too much offense from the officer.

He can pull you over and ask you what time it is if he wants.

Be polite and honest and move on. After awhile, they'll get to know you and leave you alone.

He's just doing his job, be glad he's there.

Oh, In PA it is illegal to have anything hanging from your rear view.
Usually it's an "add on" fine, but it is a valid reason to get stopped.

It blocks and distracts your vision.

2nd edit... I notice your sig say's "I'm blinding them out there."....... why is that a good thing?

Hey I pulled a guy over the other night for stuff hanging from his rear view. As I was walking up to the car I could smell the fresh marijuana. Got him out an searched his car and came up $9723.00 in a hidden compartment. Lots of stems and seeds, and drug paraphernalia but no weed. He had just sold his last pound right before I got him. He was on federal parole for narcotics trafficking, and had a revoked drivers license. YEah he already bonded out and got his money and car back.

Maybe he thought your car looked good and was looking for a reason to talk to you about it. Or maybe he was looking for $10000 and weed.

I hear ya man. Its irritating to get hasseled by the police. The point I was trying to make was that the police don't know what kind of person is inside the vehicle when they stop it. Just because the person the plates come back to is clean doesn't mean the driver is the same person.

Good luck on the Metro Transit Police. I've been a Police Officer for about 3 years now. I've on the County regional Special Response Team (used to be Tactical Response Team but it sounded to aggressive.) for about a year now as well.

I've had a cop come up to my car and looking in my side view mirror, I could see him running the back side of his hand down the side of my freshly waxed MM... He let me off with a warning on the 80 in a 65 but had to write me for the 3 month expired inspection sticker

Joe I think its a mix of car envy with a hint of trying to uphold the law. When I first got my car...the police pulled me off b/c I didnt have a front tag ON the car. I see ALOT of cars with no front tag and I wonder how...But I dont bother them...and hopefully they wont bother me.

Marauder Profiling is WRONG!....just wrong I say!
I don't mind getting pulled over, lots of cops, such as my brothers, love the Marauder and wish they had one as a work car. I have been "complemented" by a few locals here for both my cars. Now they just wave. I even had a headlight flash warning the other day doing 60 in a 35. It pays to be understanding and cooperative. Hug a cop today!

As for SWAT, usually well trained, well seasoned veteran police officers

become SWAT members.

I got pulled in maryland for the air freshener as well... Cops around here call them felony flags because they are an easy way to pull over a sketchy car and find drugs. (im not saying that you at all) Easiest way to avoid it is do what I do and put the air freshener on the shifter or turn signal switch and then they can pull you for it!

You know what's funny is a lot more people know about this law than I do. I asked around and a lot of people were like, oh yeah that's illegal.

I honestly had no idea. I thought it was one of those goofy "laws" that are written somewhere but never enforced, you know. Not that this changes anything. I don't have anything hanging from my mirrors, but it's just the principal of the thing.

Back in the eighties it was common to have everything you own with a string (or roach clip lol) hanging off your mirror. I mean gigantic feathers (some of you may remember those huge feathers with the roach clips that chicks wore in there hair!), 28 air freshners, sunglasses, the list goes on. So i guess the law started because of us "hair band guys". Sorry.
