View Full Version : PCV squeezed? What's wrong with my pressure?

Ok here is a new one since I could not find it in a search.
Today, I did my yearly coolant, brake fluid, and fuel filter change I noticed that my passenger side PCV was compressing or collapsing on its self.
I was burping the air out of the cooling system when it caught my eye. I turned off the engine and the tube returned to normal.
I took out the PCV and it rattles very freely. I don't know if that's good or bad but I cleaned it and put it back. Then I went to the driver's side but there is no PCV there just a tube. I took it out and it too looked clean and normal.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my pressure to cause this?
This is the tube with the engine running:

that is not the stock pcv fitting, and most likely your problem

Here we are.
I wonder if the grease around my intake is a result of this PCV issue?

Thats not the stock fitting, and has most likely become soft due to oil exposure.
The correct pcv valve has a 90 degree fitting built into it and the connector from the valve to the tube is straight.

Thank you Zack.
Tell me, can I some how just order 1 peice or do I need to order the whole tube and PCV?
A trip to a competent Ford parts counter will yield the answer you are looking for.
...or contact Ray.
Good luck

You can go to Advance Auto Parts and look through their brand of PCV valves and find that some have the exact hard 90* elbow you need.....about $4.00 for the kit and just throw the PCV valve away and use the elbow....Problem solved inexpensively!!!

Just got back from Advanced Auto Parts. The one I went to said they have no PCVs. They did have a few elbows. I bought the one that looked like the closest fit that was made of hard plastic (many were rubber). It fits.
Since we are on the subject, maybe we can make this a bit more educational. What could happen if the PCV fails (I know they don't fail often, but my elbow failed).
What can happen?
Here is the box:

Here it is installed.

If you wouldn't mind and if it's not too much trouble.
Thanks.

I don't know about the flange, the elbow fitting will pull off if you pull really hard immediately after pulling the PCV valve out of a pot of boiling water.

Or use a heat gun to soften the plastic.
