Does anyone know where this cable that comes from the firewall attaches? Near the K member there is a push pin type clip on the cable but I looked at the K member and did not see any holes, I felt around in the engine bay blindly but could not tell where it is supposed to push into. Any ideas?

So it should clip on somewhere on the tranny? Right now it's loose and making some noise as it moves around.

Yes I saw it was connected to the left side of the transmission however it looks like it does not go from the firewall to the tranny. There is some point in between to clip that cable as there is a lot of free slack.
In the first arrow at the bottom left of my pic is where the push pin is, right about where the exhaust manifold is. It can't bolt to the tranny from there so I'm trying to find something on the frame or k member.
Any ideas on where the mid point clip goes?
Thanks.
Its the shifter cable!
The bracket for it is on the frame rail.

Doesn't the shifter go right thru the floor? Besides this cable goes up and around the EEC right thru the fire wall behind the parking brake assembly. And yes it has a bracket right on the frame to hold it still.
