Had a young man roll up on me on the highway acting a fool, thinking his monte carlo was something...I put him down hard. We rolled on it at about 55 I let him take the go and then I mashed it. I was past him before i could hit 80, I kept it on till I was about a car length in front of him and then shut it down bout 110MPH. He screamed by me as I began to slow. He must have been pissed. I loved it. Kind of a shame that Chevy put the Earnhardt name on such a dog.:shake:

Not a great story but my first real "race" with my new merc, she did me proud.:bows:

Anyone know what the limit is on the speed on an 03 stock marauder? I felt like I had a lot left, 140 is the speedo limit...but that dont mean nothing with ford. My old ranger wouldnt go past 90 and the speedo read 120 tops.

your tach only goes up to 140rpm's? What funky gauge cluster do you have?

Speed limit is 120mph, any faster and expect the driveshaft to be up your backside

He'll hit the rev limiter around there anyway.

Limiter is set somewhere around 117-120 MPH. A tune can eliminate the limit. Some have reported vibration at 120 MPH or above due to the driveshaft balance/distortion. I think that the highest reported speed here was 165 MPH on the track at Michigan International Raceway.

My 03 MM ran 121 mph if you can trust TomTom GPS when it was completely stock. After cold air, 4.10 gears, and SCT I don't know what it will top out at because of drive shaft whip. At around 120 it started viberating and at about 125 it cracked the tail section of the trans and kicked out the rear trans seal and started pouring trans fluid and it looked like a mosquito fogger when I looked out the rear view.Scared the sh** out of me.

Kind of a shame that Chevy put the Earnhardt name on such a dog.:shake:Yeah...doesn't matter if it has a 5.3L V8 with 303 HP...it's still wrong-wheel drive.

Was it the 2002 Dale Sr. black Monte Carlo or 2004 Dale Jr. red? Both had 3.8 L V-6 - Dale Sr = 200 hp; Dale Jr. supercharged with 240 hp. If it was the actual Sprint Cup car, you have one heckofa Marauder there to beat that.

240 hp?
I think my wife's Mountaineer can beat that!

I cant seem to get the cojones to take it over 110. Between 100 + 110 the car seems to shed about 2000lbs, and just gets a little too "floaty", which isnt exactly the desired feeling at that speed.

The metal matrix DS will eliminate the whip, vibration and adding the rear seal lube modification that comes with the Art Carr kit will ease the fear. Suspension upgrades will fix that floaty feeling. Those Marauders with control arms, watts link and Naake suspension are rock solid all the way to the rev limiter. With 4.10s with over drive off at 6600 rpm and 136 mph(on the back straight at Sebring International) solid as a rock. No vibrations, no float and absolute control of everything except fear of taking out the overdrive band.....I believe the 165. In overdrive I can bend the needle at 140 with a lot of pedal left and the push in the back still strong. These Marauders are GREAT cars when set up properly for speed and handling. Go for it. Dennis
