View Full Version : Boo Hoo, My MM is Ill
Silverback is a little sick. He has redeveloped the EGR problem and the fuel pressure sensor CEL fault still lingers, plus the 1/2 shift continues to bump the rev limiter (2/3 shifts are OK).
I need a sympathetic shoulder.
The EGR valve lasted one year, almost to the day, $186.00 from Ford.
The fuel pressure sensor requires a parameter change, trip to Dallas to see a tune doctor.
The shift may require a repair part, Taemian, a member here, may have a line of what may be the cause. More on that later.
I'm sitting beside Silverback, wiping it's nose, err....inlet duct.

EGR valve failures are really rare. What's up with the FRPS? Are the problems related? Both devices connect to vacuum. Try adjusting the shift rpm or redline rpm in the tune to keep off the rev limiter. What's your setup, I don't see any info in your sig?
FordNut: The FPS CEL developed first, about a week after the S/C was installed and is/was sporatic. The EGR problem came second, April 08, and was very consistent. Changing the EGR valve seem to fix it, no faults until a few days ago, about a year from the first EGR valve change.
I can't change my rev/shift parameters because the XCal-2 I have doesn't have the user options feature. However, the problem with bumping the rev limiter didn't develop until late last year, 9 months after the S/C and tune were installed. No changes since then, which leads me to believe it's a hardware problem within the tranny.
My set-up is stock motor with Paxton Novi 1200 Centerifical S/C with 10 lbs boost, non intercooled. 50 shot Zex Wet nitrous system, PI 3500 stall convertor, 4:10 rear gears, Reinhart Automotive dyno tune, Feb/March 08.
The p0190 code is normal on SC cars, simple fix.
If you want pat, send me your .ll3 file if its not serial locked to your tuner.
I figured out a legal way to convert the file using SCT Software.

I can relate, all my junk is broke.
The Marauder needs a new hiney & tires.(sitting)
The Grand monkey need intake gastgets.(playing hurt)
The Sho needs a tune up upper 60K(still runs 15's)
The New addition 1995 Taurus SE(saved from the crusher)till I get my junk fixed, then it's the daughters car when she visits from college.

I'd say let Zack look at the tune. It sounds like some of the problems could be adjusted out with minor changes to parameters in the tune. I've experienced the FP and rev limiter problems in the past and had the tune tweaked to fix them. The EGR valve is a new one to me.
Zack; The XCal-2 is VINN locked, say's so on the display.
As for the P0190 code can you relate what exactly is the simple fix? I can take the car to Dallas and I imagine the SCT tuner (person) can made the necessary changes directly to the EEC. Would I be correct?
Regards,
Good news;
Got a letter from Social Security that I'll be receiving a $250.00 stimulus check in a couple of weeks. Now I can get Silverback repaired.
Spending it on American made parts and services.
