Worked fine yesterday, then me and my fiance went to the store and discovered, that no matter how many times I pushed my key button the passanger side front door wasn't unlocking, so I opened my door and hit the unlock button on it and all of the doors locked and then unlocked except the passanger door. Now I have to unlock the door the old fashioned way (didn't realize how much I hated that until now). Anyway is this a fuse thing or something else? Thanks

Probably the electronics in the door. Getting the electronic current but not being able to do anything with it. I haven't had to deal with that problem before, but I am thinking that there is some sort of relay in the door that is getting the current, but the relay is bad. Did the inside of the door get wet at all?

Most likely it's the lock actuator in the door itself. I'd pull the door panel off and check the connections.

Also, lubricate the linkage pivots, etc. I found a little spray lub on these fixed my driver's side, which refused to work on hot days.

Hopefully, it's something simple. My '94 MGM fatigued the metal around the actuator mounting rivet so severely, it eventually tore a complete circle of metal away from the door sheet metal! The actuator still worked, but instead of moving the door locking mechanism back and forth, only the actuator itself would whip around, making an awful racket whenever I used the remote, or put the car in drive.

That is the word I was looking for! Actuator!!! I had a brain fart!

the spray lube thing isn't a bad idea, as it had been in the high 90's where I live for 3 days

There is a little pin that holds the actuator in place to the door. You can see it when you open the door. I had the same problem and the pin that screws the actuator to the door had broke. Open and close the door a few times and if you can hear the actuator knocking around that may be your problem. If you see a hole in the door and no little silver piece then that is your issue.

Well I have an update. Saturday as I was comming out of a store I clicked the unlock button on my key and all the doors unlocked even the broken one. Took me and my girl a few seconds to realize it. Walked to the car unlocked it and we both got in without thinking about it and then she turned to me and was like "Wait I locked the door when I got out" So we both looked at the door and I clicked it again and I watched as it locked and unlocked itself, just like it used to.
I guess one could say that due to the heat of the previouse week (3 days in a row above 90) that it had somehow expanded the metals and maybe caused some sort of problem that way (but then why not all the doors) and only due to the cooler temp of this week (barely getting into the 60's) did the metal shrink back to it's previouse position and then everything worked... One could say that! But, I will go with act of God. So thank you God.
My fiance had a similar issue. Driving with her window rolled down she heard a strang sound and we discovered that she had a rather large screw stuck in her tire (I tried to pull it out no go) we left it in there and kept checking the tire and looking at the screw and then one morning we looked again and the screw was gone, no hole no evidence that it was ever there and it has been over was over 6 months that she drove on that tire, never needing to air it up. Only when all her tires were getting bald did she replace it.
It's nice to have small issues like that go away.

I have had a "lazy" actuator in the left rear door for a long time. Most times it works, sometimes not, and sometimes delayed and slow. It's annoying but I haven't fixed it yet. I'll probably save it for my final Ford ESP warranty visit and have them fix it.

About every fifth time I lock my car with the remote, the driver door lock makes a hell of a rattle. It does successfully lock, but sounds like it is vibrating for a second or so.

Is that also likely the actuator? I will need to take the panel off to replace the speakers soon, so if the collective wisdom is that I need a new actuator, I will just buy one and replace it.

Thanks,

Mike
