Picked up some MB Quart 5.25" EXP-Series 2-way components to replace the dull stock front speakers. Even running off stock headunit power for now they sound 10x better. Made some adapter plates out of 1/4" MDF and hid the crossover inside the door under the window control panel towards the front of the door. I would of mounted the tweeters flushed into the A-pillar but just didn't have the extra time when installing them but with the highs being up higher than your knee it brings the whole "soundstage" up closer to ear level which is what you want for better sound expereince.

Due to the limited space for tweeters and not wanting to modify anything... I will be going with 6x8 Pioneer 3-ways.

Nice job on the adapter plates!!!

I have Pioneer 6.5 componet plates that that are on the 6x8 mount that bolt right in. 89.95 a pair plus shipping. It is a simple install and they have a great sound. A lot nicer than the 3 ways as they are smoother sounding and not shrill on the highs. Thats due to the better tweeter in this set up.
A nice job on the adaptor plate! :)

Yeah doing a 2-way component is really the best way. John do you know if anyone has done a kick panel mid-woofer install?

You would have to custom build it. I have the same kicks in the GM and decided it was not worth the effort.

Yeah I know it would have to be done custom, I was just wondering if you knew of anyone that did it? I know it would be a bear to do but if you're going that far to do something better have a headunit that does time/distance correction.

We looked it over but to much stuff in the way plus you would lose foot room!
