remove the timing cover while the engine is in the car? :help:

It's not too bad. The Rt valve cover is probably the hardest part. Pull out the fan and you have plenty of room in the front. The power steering pump pulley removal and install is good for the Biceps. I would guess about 4-5 hrs at a careful pace. I've seen a flat rate tech do it in about 3.5 hrs.

I did the timing cover on my Marquis. Not too bad as long as you're patient.

The cam covers do not have to come off, so long as you are not messing with the timing chains.

I was thinking of taking my cover off just to polish it. I just dont feel like messing with the crank pulley again.

Spray it down with 409 degreaser then take a scrub brush to it, after that just hose it down, it will look 100 times better.
I been thinking about polishing it while its still on the car but it may look silly if I cant get in around the pulleys.

Dave, just take all the stuff of the front and clean it up.

I thought you were going to have it coated. That'd be the only reason to remove.

yeah i do want to have it coated. thats what i ment by cleaning it up lol. that cast alum is a pita to clean so id rather have it caoted then never have to really clean it again.

Polishing does sound like a good idea... Hmm that + pullies....
