I blew a tire and put the spare TIRE on a factory rim. I have a snow tire as a spare right now. I have transferred the spare to the front before and when it came to a tire change I put a 30,000 mile front tire as my spare.
Has anyone ever put a full size spare tire on a factory rim or transfered a used one to your spare?
Weird question I know.

Mine spare doesn't know what a street is. It still has stubbly thingys on it:D
Doesn't matter, it's just another front tire anyways.
May as well use it Dom! After so many years, they just get old and hard. My original F150 tires were 10 years old, plenty of tread, but hard as a rock and no traction in the snow. Only used them as winter tires.

I know a guy who bought 3 tires, kept one of the rears as a spare and mounted the front one with the other new one.

I went the cheap way out when i replaced my front tires. I bought one new BFG G-Force KDWS and used my full size spare as the other new tire. It was brand new and had never been on the car. I used the better of the two tires I took off and put it on the spare. Since I did that now I get to play the waiting game for the rear BFG'S to come off of backorder so I can have a matching set of tires on the car. :mad2:

I bought a full-size spare (rim only) from Blackmobile recently. When I got my new BFG fronts put on (the rears were done at the end of last summer), I had the tire shop put the best of the old front tires on the spare wheel. If it is only going to carry me to work and back or a tire shop, I don't see it as a problem.
Better than the 50mph / 50mile 'limited use' spare. Especially when my commute to work is 60miles each way.
