...I went out this morning, got gas, picked up a bottle of wine for the wife, then went to the car wash. When I left the car wash everything seemed fine, till the second signal light after the car wash, I tried to leave the light and the engine just reved, but didn't move till about 2000 rpm, then chirpped the tires and shuddered. I babied it home and the did some research, it is fine in reverse, but in any forward gear, (with, or with out OD) and the same thing happens, lots of rpm, then bang it takes off. Any ideas?

I trust you've checked the tranny fluid right.

Yes the trans fluid is up to level, a little discolored, but not brown, and no burnt smell, and tastes right.

Tony, Don't worry yet. Let it dry out. I've had that happen after two washes over the last few years. It's kinda scary, it should go away.

I believe your tranny is going..A friend of mine had the same thing happen to his marauder twice..and both times the tranny was toast

Listen to this advice before jumping to conclusions.

I've had my O2 sensors, throw a code after a large mud puddle, then dry out, and be alright. Is this the same thing, and can I put some grease on the connection to prevent it.

Tony, dont touch it yet.... Let the car sit for a day or two and see what will dry up. Carwashes throw water around like no ones business.... I prefer the soft hand wash in the driveway for this very reason.

Doom, momentarily, 1 time in the winter, but not like it is now.

OK, it's been a week, I took it to the selling dealer Mon. morning, checked in on Tues. afternoon, dealer said that the warranty company, has rebuilt transmissions in their inventory, and one is on it's way. I get the remainder of my warranty plus the transmission warranty, from the national chain. (Aamco?)

as I posted in the 06mclt thread, $95.20 is what the transmission cost me, I have a $50 deductible, they put in new trans fluid, filter, & tail-shaft seal, plus 8 days car rental.

AAMCO? I'm guessing it's not a Ford Warranty. I hope it's done right. Any update.

so what was the problem mine just developed this problem and mine has the j-mod ....

Now that I have a rebuilt, I know that mine had a J-mod, because this one doesn't. They never even opened it up, they just replaced it, I can't attribute it to the mod, because I don't beat on the car, I got stuck in the front yard this winter, and spent about 10 min. getting it out, the wife thinks that probably, that added to an already weak transmission.

As long as she doesn't blame it on our run-in with West Salem PD...

Naw, when we got it back she said "now beat on it so if it's bad we'll know".

Does "getting it out" involve rocking from D to R a lot with lots of revs?

Get a bigger pan - pic in sig
Use AMSOIL ATF
I also run an inline filter.

Mine will probably grenade sooner or later but taking care of it helps.

not lots of revs, but considerably more than driving,
