I have been looking at changing out my plugs and wires. Looking to smoothen out the idle and increase performance a tad.
My first question is which GMS wires do i get?

Second question is which plugs are best? Im sure this has been spoken on before but help :help::help:

You won't need the coils only the wire connecting the coil to the plug. With your mods stick with the MotorCraft OEM plugs.

IMHO, NGK Iridiums, TR6IX, will give you added performance, but changing from stock coils and wire will net you Zero added performance unless your stock coils are defective.

Our motors use COP so there are no wires. If you can just get the braided wire to replace the spring.
I use NGK TR6 plugs.
Here are the choices:
Stock Heat range
Autolite –104
Autolite Double Platinum – APP104
Autolite Iridium / Xtreme Performance – XP104
Champion Copper Plus – RS12YC
Champion Platinum Power – 3401
Champion Double Platinum – 7963
Champion Iridium – 9204
Bosch – BSH7571
Bosch Platinum – BSH4205
Bosch Platinum+2 – BSH4305
Bosch Platinum+4 – BSH4458
NGK V Power – TR55
NGK G Power Platinum – TR55GP
NGK Laser Platinum – PTR5C-13
NGK Irdium IX – TR55IX
AC Delco – R42LTS6
AC Delco Platinum – 41810
Colder Heat range
Spark Plugs:
NGK – TR6 (+1 colder)

Wont a "better" plug smoothen out the idle?

So TR6IX plugs and http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=GRN%2D28%2D1705S&N=700+4294908269+4294840044+42 94888503+4294906832+115&autoview=sku?
Just buy a BLACK marauder. It will be easier that way.

If your idle is not smooth and you haven't done a tune up try that first and stick with all stock oem parts. Don't get caught up into performance grade stuff you will just waist your money. Again OEM Motorcraft plugs is all you need. Follow stock gapping.

Maybe, replacing the OEM "springs" with the braided wire may help also.
Guess which one is the OEM??

don't waste your money on iridium unless you really are going to only change em every 100K miles

I run NGK TR6IX and GMS coil connectors :P

NGK recommends their iridium plugs changed every 60k miles with spirited driving and 100-120k miles with normal driving. I have a little over 60k miles on mine and will be changing them soon plus I need to replace the coil connectors cause when I pulled the plugs a few months ago two of the metal crimps on the connector came loose on two different connectors but I re-crimped them.

Wont a "better" plug smoothen out the idle?
Doubt it, I did notice my engine idle was smoother with the Granetelli COP wires. FWIW, I put AutoLite Irdiums in my DTR and it screwed up my tune for some reason. They put AutoLite coppers in and it went back to where it had been on the dyno. I have no clue as to why this would have happened, but it was verified on a dyno. I have since returned to the OEM plugs.
