had 4.10's put in the car and it is a dog. why would this happen. The car will not break the tires loose off the line. WTF??? What would cause the car to be a dog. Completely stock mm with lidio tune. Put a rebuilt trans with upgraded valve body, and O/D band. Replaced the rear gears, rebuild kit with carbon discs, and trac loc all from FRPP. Trans and gears done at same time. Any ideas what would cause it to be a dog and not even break tires loose with that tall gear???:mad2: Thanks.

Same here.... What are you running for tires?

If you're running N/A, keep in mind that your torque is still fairly low at low rpm, and breaking the tires loose on a 4,000 lb car from a standing start with low torque is pretty tough.

If you brake it a bit to get the engine revs up and load the TC what happens? Should be a little better performance doing that.

Adding gears does not add HP. Adding a torque converter does not add HP. If you add a higher stall torque converter now, with the gears...you'll be able to fry your (stock) rear tires off the line, without necessarily really changing your peak HP numbers. One mod won't really do much. It's a proper combination of mods that will give you the best results.

thats the truth. i added a 3500 stall to my car after the gears and when i stopmped it with the crappy stock tires it would burn them for like 80 feet! it was WAY fun! then i got 255s that didnt suck and im back to square one lol. how ever the car is still much faster.

When you installed the 3500 stall torque converter did you add a trans cooler & if so what kind ? Did you have to change the tune & why ?

Yes, you're going to want to get your car retuned more than likely. I see your future mods list....I did SW longtubes, full custom exhaust, and a 3000 stall torque converter all at the same time. Unbelievable difference over 4.10s, tune, and a CAI. The torque converter and headers combined made my MM feel like it was 1000lbs lighter.

Normal.

You need a tune and more spin up...look toward pullies and a tranny tune next.

It's probably in your best intrest to get a tune after a torque converter install to get rid of any possible dead spots you may have. Those dead spots can really be annoying and costly at the track. Barry, didn't you have that issue...and get it resolved instantly with a fresh tune?
