View Full Version : Air Vent Baffles quit working!

Bad week for the Marauder!
First I noticed my passenger side rearview mirror won't move with the remote on the driver's door, then I noticed the light behind the voltage meter is out...and now my air vent baffles don't work right! When I turn on Max A/C, A/C, or Vent the air will only flow in the either the defrost or floor vents! You can actually tell it's trying to work because air will slowly come out of the vents for a minute but then it will cycle back to the defrost/floor again and sound like a helicopter. Any suggestions before I take it in for a closer look?

Need the switch for the remote mirror.
Need new light bulb for the voltmeter (I'd replace the bulb for the oil pressure gauge while your at it).
Sounds like you have a vacuum leak in the system (vacuum hose is off, pinched or has a hole in it) or the HVAC control unit needs the O-rings replaced (search and you'll find the repair info.).

No search necessary (for O-ring replacement) - it's a sticky at the top: (linked here)

Thanks! Sounds like a hassle though but I'm willing to do it if it means saving a lot of dough.

Go and move the mirror manually (with your thumbs) .....it will "ratchet" back and forth.....you may have run it past a stop??
I have made mine work this way on several CV's!!
