Okay, team - I need some technical support here.
I had a little oil leak in the timing cover, and took the MM to my friendly Ford dealer to fix it. Of course, they disconnected the battery to work on it like any good mechanic would.
When they screwed it back together and took it for a test drive, and Climate Control ignored all input and blew cold air through the defroster at full blast. They called me to ask whether I noticed this. Of course, I hadn't - it worked perfectly when I brought it in. The put it on the Rotunda (or whatever that electrical analyzer is called) and said it was shot. So I authorized the $600 for a new unit.
I take the car home and notice that the air suspension isn't inflating. I waited overnight, and it still isn't inflating. In the meantime, I check the DVD Shop manual and discover that the Climate Control and the Air Suspension are on the same electrical circuit. Clouds of suspicion form.
So, back to the dealer. They put it up in the air and, by connecting directly to the A/S computer behind the glove box, get the A/S working again (the car is 1/2" off left-to-right, but that's the shocks - they are 60K old and I can fix that). However, now that I know that the A/S and the C/C are on the same circuit, it seems clear to me that whatever broke the A/S also broke the C/C. So I shouldn't have to pay for their mistake.
More data: During the time they had the MM in the shop, they had it on the lift over a weekend and for a total of about three and a half days the suspension dangled. The tech says he turned off the switch, but ... ? Either way, hanging there for 85-90 hours didn't do it any good.
So, before I go back and have a chat with the Service Director about not paying for the C/C, I'd like some technical support for my contention that what caused the A/S to shut down also broke the C/C. In other words, I want my $600 back.
Can anyone help? Is there a TSB or service guidance on this? Has anyone seen this before? Any documentation anywhere?
I appreciate (in advance) the assistance.
Mark
(Oh yeah - it doesn't leak anymore)
