so about 10 mins ago I went out onto the porch for a smoke (we dont smoke in the house) and I look out the window towards the barn thats about 50 yrds away and I see some dark running/waddling away from the side door of the barn.
Its a dam ground hog, or something similar. They dig up holes around the foundations of the buildings and just tear things up, and also its something that would get into fights with our outside cats.
I go back inside and grab the 870, go back and get a stash of shells al load up the mag tube, and throw on some shoes.
I open the door to the porch and head outside (the door is loud and it probably hear it) I start down the sidewalk and then into the grass.
All the sudden I see about 25-30 yrs away it runs down a tree close to the barn and starts running like a ferret towards the barn. I flick of the safety and and put in the sights while its running at the last second before its out of my line of sight I sqeezed the trigger.
Thunder erupts from the 870, but I see nothing laying there. (I am using 4 shot in a modified choke) but it must have not been close enough/ or on target enough to take it down. Im pretty sure at least 1 or more of the balls must of hit it, but it made its way back into the barn.
I looked around inside but didnt see it or a blood trail.
So, the hunt continues.
