So I've been wanting to get 4.10 gears installed for a couple months now and I just got around to getting it done yesterday. When I picked up my car from the shop after the install I couldn't tell any difference what so ever with the 4.10s which was very strange. When I got home I looked at the gear that was taken off before the 4.10s were installed and it was a frickin 4.10 ring and pinion:eek: I felt like such a damn fool too waste all that money and also pissed off that the shop didn't call me and tell me that their was already a 4.10 in their. The only positive I got out of it was new gear oil and had a new posi put in.

did you have the new 1s in hand, and gave them to the shop to install,or did the shop supply them. If you had them in hand they just did what you asked !! $$

so you have a buyer already no damage. what kind of gear oil did you put in

Sorry to hear that James. Kinda weird they wouldn't call you just to verify if you knew there were 4.10's in it already. I know thats not a cheap job.

Yea tell me about it and on top of that he tells me it was going to be 2.5 hours of labor at $75 a hour which should've been like 187.50 than I get the bill and its $250 for the labor.

I went to get some rear shocks for my CV from sears and I was looking for the cheapest I could get which were the Monroe Gasmatic. Needless to say they didn't have them in stock, so i went with the next step up price wise which were the Monroe senseatrack. So I get 2 and tell them I'll take them home (key here is the girl at the register looked at me funny). I get home and see that the install will be a bit more difficult than I'd predicted. So I take the shocks back to Sears to have them put them on. The service writer says they really don't put other manufactured shocks on, but I assured him that they were their brand shocks. The service writer then gives me a price of $40 a piece to install them, but then the manager tell him that the installation will be FREE. Then the manager explains that the shocks come with FREE INSTALLATION. Then I say out loud, "Why then did I take them home" praying I didn't get an answer. So they installed the shocks, but the bottom line was, I was trying to get something done for less than Free. :argh:

How easy is it to drain the gear oil and put the synthetic in???

Stock cover? if so loosen all the bolts and let it drain out. And clean and reseal the cover. Filling is made easier with some kind of pump.

I have never heard that before! I just had mine installed and she runs like I shaved 1,000lbs off. They should have come with 4.10's.
