I have 140,000 miles on my shocks and I think I should change them.

As most of you know my car isn't stock anymore.

Any suggestions as to what to buy and pricing?

Thanks.

Yeah Motorcraft would be stock, don't waste money on KYB or Monroe (already had Monroe in the rears, never again) and Naake cost a pretty penny but if you can afford them those are what you should get, other OEM will do just fine.

I'm talkin' about the fronts. I thought the rear was the air ride and the front were shocks.

Rear are air springs.

:bs:Rear are air springs.:bs:

What the ****** are you talking about???

Maybe on your CV... Not on a Marauder.

The air bags are for height adjustment. There are tube-type shocks on the rear.......

The fronts are coil over shocks.

I have heard from some people on this site that the Naake's QA1 leak after like 20,000m or so. Whats everyone's opinion on these for life span. If not these, what other brand(adjustable front and rear)can I find.

There are none, if you want to lower the front, cut one coil of the spring, for the back airbags, you can search and you will find pictures on how to adjust it.

Ok, in looking at the naake QA1 front and rear, I need to know my mount bolt size and inside diameter lower mount. Isnt there a stock size for the 2004 Mercury Maruder, why all the different sizes; for the Vic, Grand Marq, etc? How would I know what my size, if infact ( I ) cant get under the vehicle and check?

I plan on going with the Naake rears but sticking with the stocks up front. I may lower mine but not 100% sure yet, the roads can suck in the Tampa bay area. Always construction some where, took out a rim on my old MM once.

I love the KYB's I got from Rock Auto.

Had KYBs on my 04 and thought that they were way to bouncy in the rear. I know KYB went to a new part number for the rears about 1-2 years ago so there may be a difference. The fronts were okay but the rear was bouncy even after sway bar and Metcos were installed.

I also had Suncore Industries airbags instead of stock. I had them before the KYBs were installed and didn't notice a big change in ride quality

Why stray from Factory shocks ? They work well so don't mess with success!!

The Marauder is the only car I have ever owned that I did not feel an overpowering urge to immediately change the shocks, wheels and tires.

The factory struts/shocks are awesome. Get new ones. Why would you even consider cheesy Monroe or KYB? I have never driven Naake, can't comment.

I'm lowered with Eibach's. I have KYB Gas-Adjusts. They work extremely well with the Eibach springs. The stock fronts are Toikos. If you're lowered with cut stock front coils...I'd stay with the Toiko's.

Hey Dom,

+1 on what pearce said...I'm also running the KYB's on mine with the Eibachs and its tight and smooth. Next time I'm in Chitown we'll go do a little slalom somewhere's and you can judge for yourself. Sorry we didn't get to hook up this time...

My rears are stock. Only my fronts are KYB's. I used them to match up better with the Eibach springs.
